She's created a legacy after decades of ruling the runway.

But Cindy Crawford is still learning how to traverse the difficult world of social media through her 16-year-old daughter Kaia, according to Byrdie.

The 52-year-old supermodel admitted that she asks her little girl for help while posting online, but struggles with understanding some of her daughter's unique phrasing and captions.

'I definitely ask [her] opinion on [Instagram] photos sometimes,' she said of her social habits. 'Like is this good or not? But I remember in the beginning both my kids were like, 'Mom, you use way too many hashtags—lose the hashtags.' 

Her online interactions may not always be up to par for her kids, but Cindy understands there's a bit of a barrier.

'That was the one time where I really felt criticized by them,' she said. 'But it's funny because we realize we're speaking to a different audience.

'Some of Kaia's captions, I'm like what does that even mean? She goes, 'Oh, Mom, forget it.' Like I don't even understand her captions half the time, but meanwhile, she has more followers than me so she must be doing something right.'

While Cindy has amassed more than three million followers on Instagram, she's not too far behind her daughter's impressive 3.5million friends online.

The mother-daughter social media rivalry isn't too intense, with both of the models unafraid to reach out for a little bit of help.

 'I'll ask her opinion,' Cindy admitted. 'And the great thing is she asks mine too.'

Kaia stepped into the spotlight during her first walk down the runway in September's Calvin Klein show for New York Fashion Week.

She's since become quite the it-girl and has sauntered down the catwalk in Milan, London and Paris.
