Meghan's makeup masterclass: How the Duchess of Sussex ditched her natural look in favour of 'youthful' peach blush and 'glamorous dark eyes' at last night's Buckingham Palace reception

  • The Duchess of Sussex attended a reception at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday
  • Showcased a more polished makeup look complete with blusher and bronzer
  • Makeup artist Stacey Whittaker says that her blusher adds a 'youthful' glow

She is famed for her natural beauty look and face full of freckles but Meghan showcased a rather alternative beauty look on Tuesday night.

The Duchess of Sussex arrived at the Young Leaders Reception at Buckingham Palace looking very polished, showcasing bouffant curls not dissimilar to Kate's.

And her makeup routine appeared to have received a revamp too with the 36-year-old opting for a highly finished look.

The newly-minted Duchess opted for a full face of makeup finished with a high-shine bronzer and a peach blusher something we are not used to seeing.

Her eye makeup was heavier than usual with Meghan opting for a liquid eyeliner as well as a smoky eye as she joined the Queen and Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace.

Makeup artist Stacey Whittaker agrees that Meghan has mastered a 'peachy' finish to her beauty look.

She told the MailOnline: 'It was noticeable that Meghan had more contour than she would usually wear and this sculpted her cheekbones beautifully.

'Meghan's makeup was still natural and subtle and you can achieve this light contour easily at home by using bronzer.

'Meghan also had a beautiful blush on the apples of her cheeks which added a youthful glow to her makeup. The peachy tone of her blush is perfect for summer.'

Makeup expert Laura Kay told the MailOnline how Meghan's glamorous new look is a nod towards her transition into life as a royal.

She said: 'It is fascinating to watch Meghan's transformation from laid back LA cool girl to polished, First Lady look.

'Now that she's a fully fledged Royal Family member along with a title, she is probably expected to up the ante in the makeup and wardrobe department.

'Meghan's new look is certainly a head turner and only amplifies her natural beauty even more!'

Laura explains that 'her brows have been filled in and defined which can be achieved using a dark brown pencil or brow powder and her eyes have been accentuated using liquid eyeliner and maybe a set of very natural looking false lashes.

'Too stop the eyes looking too heavy, Meghan didn't line the bottom lid but instead chose to lightly define the bottom row of lashes with mascara'

'The apples of her cheeks have been accentuated with a creamy peach blush to add warmth to her complexion and her lips seem to have a creamy nude pick lip gloss applied to them.'

It is a big step away from Meghan's formerly natural makeup palette which showcased her famous freckles.

She previously revealed that in her acting days she didn't wear foundation unless she was filming.

Back in 2014, Meghan also described her low-key routine to Allure, saying: 'My routine is very simple — I call it the five-minute face. It's just Touche Éclat, curled lashes, mascara, Chap Stick, and a little bit of blush. That is my favorite kind of look.'

Her former makeup artist Lydia Sellers confirmed this to Refinery 29.

She said: 'Every time I'd do her makeup, she'd say, 'Can we just make sure my freckles are peeking through? I don't want a ton of foundation.' It was more about the amount of product that went on her skin and keeping it really fresh and dewy, rather than caking it on.'
