Parents whose newborn daughter was brain damaged when she suffocated during her first breast feed SUE the NHS because their midwife failed to warn them of the dangers
Julia Geis-Clements, 39, and her financier husband, Lee Clements, 41, from Denham in Buckinghamshire, say a midwife gave inadequate advice on how to breast feed their daughter, Cerys. The High Court heard Cerys (left and top right) now has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and visual impairment, as well as by 'significant neuro-developmental problems'. The couple (pictured right outside court) claim Cerys would have escaped a lifetime of disability had the midwife warned them to keep her airway clear as she was held against her mother's breast. Mrs Geis-Clements, a marketing manager, is now suing Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust on Cerys' behalf, alleging the midwife gave negligent advice.

NHS nurse who used voodoo magic to force Nigerian women to work as prostitutes in Europe so she could fund a lavish lifestyle is found GUILTY of trafficking in the first case of its kind
Josephine Iyamu, formerly of south London, was a ringleader of an international human trafficking crime network and lived in a huge Nigerian mansion complete with a servants' quarters. Iyamu charged each of her victims (pictured bottom) Euro 30,000 and Euro 38,000 to arrange for their travel to Europe - profiting from more than Euro 15,000 from one victim alone via wire transfers and cash payments. Footage obtained by Nigerian authorities showed one of the 'juju' ceremonies taking place (right). Iyamu (pictured inset and, left, being arrested) is believed to be the first person to be convicted under Modern Slavery Act laws passed in 2015, allowing prosecutions of British citizens for sexual trafficking taking place overseas.
Mother, 40, was crushed to death by faulty automatic garage doors in front of horrified friend after clinging to the closing shutters in an 'act of sillines'
Social worker Heidi Chalkley (pictured right) was dragged into the mechanism after grabbing onto the metal shutters with both hands as they rose up in an ‘act of silliness’. Both of the 40-year-old’s arms got trapped, and she was pulled into the rolling metal shutters and crushed to death in front of her friends. The safety detectors on the garage doors (left) beneath a block of flats in Cambridge failed to work. A pre-inquest review at Huntingdon Coroner’s Court heard how the mother of one pressed the button to make the doors rise, but then got trapped in the mechanism when she grabbed the door.
Couple living in £600,000 pink beachside house are banned from LOOKING into their neighbours' home or walking past it after being given exclusion order following row over building work
Nigel Jacklin, and wife Sheila (main image) were shocked to be issued with a 'community protection warning', the modern version on an Asbo, after being accused of harassing their neighbours in the quiet seaside hamlet of Norman's Bay, near Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. The couple have been warned by police they face prosecution if they are 'perceived by any person to be looking into any neighbour's property'. They have also been banned from walking directly to the beach past their neighbour's home because it now forms part of an 'exclusion zone' imposed on them. The row stems from renovation work their neighbours, Dr Stephane Duckett and partner Norinne Betjemann (top left), carried out on an outbuilding. Pictured inset: The 'exclusion zone'.
Fury as yet ANOTHER dog is spotted in a hot vehicle: Pet is heard 'desperately honking truck's horn after being trapped for 40 minutes in 81F heat outside McDonald's'
This is the shocking moment a teenager spotted the fifth dog to be left in a hot vehicle in just two days, with the latest incident (left) to emerge happening in Frome outside a McDonald's on Monday. The same day a pet was locked inside a vehicle in Cheshire (top-right) as temperatures soared to sweltering 30C. And on Tuesday police struggled to breathe as they rescued Labradors from an 86F car in York (inset) while another dog panted in distress as it was trapped in a car in Stockton-on-Tees, Durham (bottom-right).
'I've never seen that much money in my life': Bristol University's Windrush cleaner who was given £1,500 by students to visit his family in Jamaica reveals he is still 'shaking with shock' at the gesture
Herman Gordon, 65, broke down in tears when Bristol University students gave him £1,500 to return to Jamaica to see his family. The cleaner came to the UK as a 12-year-old as part of the Windrush generation but has never forgotten his early days growing up in Gold Street, Kingstown. More than 230 students raised the money in just a few days after setting up an online just giving page describing Mr Gordon as 'the epitome of happiness'. Mr Gordon said: 'I've never seen that much money in my life. There's enough money here for two weeks - I'm negotiating with a travel agent to get a good deal.' England and Belgium fans prepare for the most 'BORING' game of World Cup 2018 tonight as both sides could try to lose to get an easier route to the final
You would think that the first priority for both teams in a football match is to win. But that might not be the case when England take on Belgium at Kaliningrad Stadium in the World Cup tonight, as both sides could benefit from defeat. For the loser will face an arguably easier run (on the right side of the graphic), with Sweden or Switzerland in the quarter-finals - before Spain , Russia , Croatia or Denmark in the semi-finals. However, the winner of tonight's game in Group G (on the left side of the graphic) will play Brazil or Mexico in the quarter-finals - and then France, Argentina, Uruguay or Portugal in the semis. Ahead of tonight's match at 7pm UK time in Kaliningrad (where fans are pictured, left and bottom right), Belgium and England sit exactly level on six points, a goal difference of six and eight goals scored. And fans are dubious about the potential quality of tonight's match.
'What a wonderful day to be alive': Fans savour Germany's misery after World Cup exit with hilarious memes (including plane seats draped in towels bearing the nation's flag)
As fans woke up to a World Cup without the holders this morning, the mockery online continued. Supporters joked that while Ronaldo might be carrying the Portugal team and Messi the Argentine side, the only thing carrying the German team now is a Lufthansa plane home. Others mocked up photos of German towels on aircraft seats, a reference to the popular English joke that Germans always reserve the sun-loungers in holiday resorts.
Prince William pays 'profoundly moving' visit to tomb of his great-grandmother Princess Alice who hid a Jewish family from the Nazis during Israel trip
The Duke of Cambridge (left) today made a 'profoundly moving' visited the tomb of his great-grandmother, Princess Alice of Battenberg (right, pictured in 1913), on the final day of his historic tour of the Middle East. William visited the Church of St Mary Magdalene, a golden-domed Russian Orthodox church on the Mount of Olives above the Old City in east Jerusalem which is situated in the Garden of Gethsamane. The Duke was welcomed to the church by Archimandrite Roman, Father Roman (also left, and centre), the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, and Abbess Elizabeth. Before entering the church, Father Roman and William paused to take in the magnificent views from the church, overlooking the Dome of the Rock on Temple Mount. At the entrance to the church, in keeping with Russian Orthodox tradition, William took bread and salt.
A Prince in the Holy City: William wears yarmulke for prayers at the Western Wall then lights a candle at site of crucifixion on his Biblical tour of Jerusalem
The Duke of Cambridge today prayed at the most sacred site accessible to Jews and lit a candle at the spot where Jesus Christ is believed to have been crucified (bottom right) as he concluded his tour of the Middle East. Prince William (bottom left, at the Al-Aqsa mosque) visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City with a yarmulke - also known as a kippah or skull cap - on his head, and placed a written prayer on a folded piece of paper into one of the cracks in the wall (top left). The royal also took his shoes off as he went inside the gold-topped Dome of the Rock, a deeply holy site for Muslims, and went to see the holiest site in the Christian world, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The Church in the Old City stands above the supposed site of Jesus's crucifixion, burial and resurrection.
Pictured: The daughter of estate agent's best friend whose tryst with his wife led to murder after she taunted him about his failings as a man
David Clark, 49, is facing life in jail after being found guilty of killing his wife Melanie, 44 (pictured together right) during an argument about her tryst with Katie Bastians, 31 (pictured in her underwear left) a close friend's daughter. Clark murdered his wife after she repeatedly humiliated him about the size of his penis and taunted him about her encounter with the lesbian journalist, jurors were told. The court heard the former military medic stabbed his South-African born wife in the chest with a cook's knife at their home in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire (pictured and then dialled 999, confessing: 'I've killed my wife. She did my head in.' He was today found guilty of murder at Birmingham Crown Court.

Police are called to TWO more 'distressed and panting' dogs locked in separate sweltering hot cars during 86F heatwave
Four dogs have been rescued from searing hot cars in just two days as temperatures reached a blazing 86F. Police were first called to the rescue of the 'distressed' dog locked inside a vehicle at the Cheshire Oaks shopping centre (left). Onlooker Jason Mcdonnell King said the pet was left inside the car for more than an hour before being let out 'panting' and rushed to the vets. This comes after officers yesterday 'struggled to breathe' as they dived in a car and rescued Labradors from an 86F car in York (inset). On the same day, another dog was left panting and distressed after being locked in a car in Stockton-on-Tees (right). The latest incidents come amid warnings from the RSPCA not to leave dogs in cars which can quickly turn to 'ovens' and kill pets in the space of just 10 minutes.

Violence hits World Cup as Brazilian and Serbian fans brawl in the stands in Moscow's Spartak Stadium
As most Brazilians celebrated their side sailing through to the last 16, some were seen attacking Serbian fans in the stands. It is unclear who started the brawl at Moscow's Spartak stadium. Blue and red shirts clashed with yellow and green (pictured left and bottom right) ones as a group of men from both countries traded punches. A female Serbian fan was also caught up in the brawl and was pictured crying (top right) as she tried to escape the fight. Stewards were hauled in to break up the supporters as they tried to restore calm. It is unclear why the row started and which team initiated the violence.
Not so fluffy! Savage squirrel grapples with deer and wrestles a pheasant in his bid for a square meal
A greedy squirrel was caught on camera going nuts and launching a savage attack on a pheasant pecking at food - even tearing clumps of feathers out of its neck. The feisty rodent unleashed a series of wrestling moves more commonly seen in the ring as he fiercely grappled with the game bird - and a baffled muntjac - and successfully drove the pair away.

A spokesman for the RSPCA confirmed the dogs are now in their care.
Open season for traveller camps: Police chiefs want scores more caravan sites set up... and they've rejected calls for tougher powers
The National Police Chiefs Council recommended that new permanent and transit sites should be set up across Britain for gypsies, Roma and travellers to reduce illegal incursions. The police leaders also rejected calls for a change in the law to give them tougher powers to target travellers who camp illegally. Earlier this year housing minister Dominic Raab launched a public consultation around unauthorised gypsy and traveller camps. Mr Raab said he was 'deeply troubled' by allegations about the behaviour of travellers and 'particularly by the widespread perception that the rule of law does not apply to those who choose a nomadic lifestyle'.
Prince of profligacy: Charles runs up £1MILLION bill jetting around world - while other royals manage to fly on the cheap
Prince Charles spent £1million jetting around the world on private flights, while other royals, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were happy to take commercial airlines. In all, £4.7million was spent on royal travel in 2017/18, a rise of £200,000 on the previous year. The most expensive form of royal travel, mile for mile, is the royal train which costs approximately £20,000 per journey. Charles took seven journeys on it, which has sumptuous sleeping and dining cars. He also billed taxpayers £15,385 to charter a plane for a private day trip to London from Birkhall, his estate in Scotland. Aides declined to explain the reason but admitted there was no official engagement, saying royals were 'allowed to travel from residence to residence'. The public paid £18,170 for Prince William to join the Passchendaele centenary commemoration in Belgium last July - and a further £30,414 to hire a separate private plane for Prince Charles to go too. Aides said the two princes were travelling from different starting points in Britain and following different programmes in Belgium.

Bully who whipped his sons if they missed a beat: Joe Jackson moulded pop's most famous musical family - but he died in obscurity shunned by them
As patriarch of the biggest family in showbusiness, Joe Jackson made no apologies for ruling his many children with a rod of iron, later pointing to their immense success. 'I don't regret it,' he told Oprah Winfrey in 2010 of the merciless beatings he would hand out with a leather strap and a switch to his son, Michael, and his eight siblings. 'It kept them out of jail and kept them right.' A few years later, he sounded even more defiant, telling an interviewer: 'I'm glad I was tough because look what I came out with,' writes TOM LEONARD.
