James Haskell reveals why he and his bride-to-be Chloe Madeley WON'T be dieting before their big day (and how they are waiting TWO YEARS to tie the knot)

  • EXCLUSIVE: Northampton Saints star, 33, will get married to Madeley in 2020
  • He said the royal wedding gave him the motivation to start planning his big day
  • Fitness addict says the couple won't diet before or eat healthily for their wedding

They were one of the high-profile couples to attend the royal wedding, a spectacular day that rugby star James Haskell admits gave him the motivation he needed to start planning his own nuptials with his fitness fanatic partner, Chloe Madeley.

But the English rugby union player, 33, has revealed he will wait another two years before finally getting hitched to his fitness model fiancee, 30 - and it's all because of next year's Rugby World Cup.

Nevertheless, Haskell, who proposed to Chloe on holiday in Paris in April, has made some plans for the big day, and he has revealed that he and his partner will definitely not be going on a diet beforehand.

The Northampton Saints flanker, who has just moved clubs from Wasps, told FEMAIL that he and Chloe, the daughter of TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, will set a date in 2020 for their nuptials.

When asked why they are waiting so long, he said: 'Because the World Cup is next year, so anyone who would be at the wedding wouldn't be able to attend.

'It'd be the worst timing in the world!'

As the wedding is so far off, Haskell admits he and Chloe, who have been a couple for about four years, haven't made too many plans yet.

But one thing he is sure of is that neither he or his fiancee will go on a pre-wedding diet.

The fitness fanatics carefully control their diets and work out almost every day, so Haskell said they simply won't need to go on a special plan before the big day itself.

James Haskell reveals what he eats in a day

Breakfast: Eggs and smoked salmon i

Lunch: Steak with sweet potato

Mid-afternoon meal: A portion of fish with vegetables

Dinner: Spaghetti bolognese

James Haskell reveals he eats beef three to four times a week, despite some nutritionists advising to only eat red meat once a week.

However Haskell told FEMAIL: 'People demonise red meat because there are certain types of red meat that people are concerned about but to be honest it's very very good for you.

'There's a lot of rubbish being spoken about health and fitness and fads come and go but what doesn't change is calories in versus calories out.

'If you're tying to gain weight, you need to eat more and if you want to lose weight you've got to eat less.'

He said: 'I'm going to do what I always do which is to stay in the best shape as possible.

'Like anybody we get in unbelievable shape and we get out of shape within reason and then we get back into shape.

'No doubt for women it's very important to look amazing on their big day, and men have the same thing, but I'm not planning on getting morbidly obese and then trying to lose the weight.

'I don't see it as something we would do.'

Haskell, who was in Sardinia on holiday with Chloe last week, added: 'We trained every single day we've been on holiday but let our hair down and eaten food that we want, and we've both put on weight.'

James, who says he eats 4,000 calories a day to maintain his stacked physique, also revealed that despite eating a carefully controlled diet of healthy food, his wedding breakfast will just be full of foods that they want to eat.

He added: 'We haven't got that far down the line, but whenever it does happen will be all about us and our day and eating good food and drinking good wine. '

'If we happen to have something healthy on the menu it's because we'll want it there because it tastes good. But I'm not going to have a quinoa salad for lunch or do crunches before the church service.'
