On Wednesday, she wept uncontrollably as she was dumped from Love Island just 10 days after entering the villa — tearing her away from show partner Adam Collard.

And Zara McDermott kicked off her first full day out of the Majorca villa by reiterating her love for the musclebound hunk — who won his fair share of critics since his tenure began on the show at the start of the month, thanks to his wandering eye.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, government adviser Zara shared a screenshot of herself crying before Adam at the moment she learned she'd been voted off, before defending Adam's decision to stay in the villa after her shocking exit.

In a lengthy post, she wrote: 'Leaving Adam in the villa was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. He is so wonderful and I hope that everyone can now see that. The bond we built in the villa was something I never expected and so different to anything I have ever experienced before.'

Addressing his decision to remain in the villa without her — despite claiming he was devastated by her departure, Zara continued: 'Whether he chooses to stay or leave is completely his decision; I support him no matter what he does, and I will always be ready to welcome him home.

'As much as I didn’t want to leave without him, I know that this experience is once in a lifetime and I’d never want to take that away from him. I walked into the villa wanting to find someone and also to find myself and I think I’ve done both.

Speaking out: On Thursday morning, she took to Instagram to defend her reaction, while reiterating her love for Adam and defending his decision to remain in the Majorca villa

She concluded: 'Thank you guys for all your love, it means the world to me especially now that I am out in the big wide world on my own without my partner in crime! These past few days have been hard, but thank you guys again for everything.'

Dani and Jack, Samira and Sam, Georgia and Josh and Laura and Wes were split into boys and girls, with the boys choosing Zara to go and the girls picking Eyal.

Despite knowing Adam for just a matter of days, Zara told MailOnline after her exit that she hopes the lothario will stay faithful to her during the rest of his stay.

She said: 'We left things on a really positive note. It's devastating that I’ve left and he’s stayed. I'm going to wait for him on the outside. I'm not disappointed I've left the villa, I'm disappointed to leave Adam...

'We have such an amazing connection. I'm going to wait for him on the outside and look forward to seeing him. I think I succeeded in finding love.'

Viewers soon swarmed Twitter to weigh in on her actions, with many fans mocking the star for her delusions that Adam would wait, particularly given the explosive news that 12 new bombshells would be entering the villa.
