Investing Show: Buy unloved banks, not expensive beer - how to invest for higher inflation
Investing for a low inflation world has paid off handsomely in recent years, as defensive shares with a reliable dividend have seen their prices rise substantially.
But is it time for a different course of action?
Things are looking up in Europe, but many investors are still pricing in low inflation and defensive shares are riding high. However, better opportunities lie elsewhere believes Schroders European Equities fund manager James Sym.
He joins Simon Lambert, of This is Money, and Richard Hunter, of Wilson King, on the Investing Show to explain why he's backing banks over beer companies to try to take advantage of potentially higher inflation on the horizon.
And James explains why investing in a world of better growth and rising prices involves a different outlook - and the one sector in the UK he sees as a value opportunity right now.
In the other half of the show, Simon Lambert, Richard Hunter and Nick batsford look at what 2018 may hold for investors.
