The girl suffered a cardiac arrest and panicked eyewitnesses summoned ambulances when the child was thrown from a bouncy castle at Gorleston beach. Witnesses described hearing 'the most enormous bang' and saw the girl 'catapulted' into the air before emergency services tried desperately to keep her alive with CPR. The girl, reported to have been four years old, was taken to the James Paget Hospital, where she died.

Russia give Spain penalty pain! Home nation knock out one of the tournament favourites in the World Cup’s first shoot-out… and make England’s route to the final even easier
Russia fans partied in the streets (pictured left and inset top) after their stunning shoot-out (inset bottom) against former champions Spain. They were joined by England supporters who joined in the celebrations after seeing one of the tournament favourites crash out on penalties - because they'll now have an easier route to the final. Spain would've been one of England's major obstacles on their road to glory. But now if Gareth Southgate's men beat Colombia on Tuesday they'll face Sweden or Switzerland and then Russia or Croatia in the semi final. The host nation held the Spaniards to a 1-1 draw sending the tie into penalties for the first time in this year's tournament. Ex-Liverpool striker Iago Aspas and Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke missed from the spot meaning Russia won 4-3 on penalties. Pictured right: Deflated Spain fans react to watching their team lose.

'Do your best and don't let me down': Herman the cleaner who was given £1,500 from kindhearted students says he tries to inspire them because he left school with no qualifications
Cleaner Herman Gordon (pictured crying tears of joy right) has one very simple philosophy — be happy, no matter what life throws at you, and do the very best you can. He may not earn a fortune, or boast a string of qualifications, but Herman has become an inspirational figure to the students at Bristol University around whom he manoeuvres his Henry vacuum cleaner. As a graduate of 'The University of Life', the lessons they have learned from Herman cannot be found in any of the textbooks in the biomedical sciences library where he works. A smile here, a kind word there, a joke or a fist-bump of encouragement from cheery Herman makes all the difference to stressed students hunched over their books and laptops as final exams loom. And last week, the students showed their appreciation for Herman by surprising him with a white envelope, filled with £1,500 in cash they'd raised, so he and 56-year-old wife Denise (pictured left) could celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversary in Jamaica with relatives they haven't seen for nine years.
The ULTIMATE fixer-upper! Husband and wife are to plough £20MILLION into renovating a semi-derelict mansion with 102 rooms to turn it into a luxury five-star hotel
Paul and Rowena Williams bought the 102-bedded Plas Glynllifon (pictured main), near Caernarfon in Gwynedd, Wales, two years ago and plan to have it open for business by 2020. Photos before the renovation show the dilapidated interior (inset right, a rundown en-suite). But recent shots reveal the building is well on its way to being restored to its 19th century glory (inset left, a master bedroom after being renovated).
Peter Firmin, creator of children's TV classics from Bagpuss and The Clangers to Noggin The Nog and Basil Brush, dies aged 89 surrounded by his family

The British artist and puppet maker died at home in Kent and leaves behind his wife Joan and six daughters, as well as his 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Along with his co-creators, Mr Firmin brought joy to generations of children with his skilfully-crafted animated creations. Among his most famous creations were childhood favourites The Clangers (pictured bottom right) Bagpuss (with Mr Firmin main left) Basil Brush (top right) and Noggin The Nog (right inset). His death was announced in a statement from Clangers's production company Coolabi (inset).
Gary Lineker flies back from the World Cup for ONE DAY to accompany his model ex-wife to her mother's funeral
Gary Lineker, 57 (pictured left with his ex-wife Danielle Bux, 39) was in Moscow to present a 10.30pm highlights show after England lost to Belgium on Thursday. But he made it back to the UK in time to carry the coffin as Daneille Bux's mother Kim Mohammed (pictured right) was laid to rest in Cardiff on Friday, reports The Sun. He stayed for his ex-mother in law's wake before catching a plane back to Russia ready for the 3pm kickoff of the Argentina v France game on Saturday.
Stunning image of a grizzly bear about to guzzle a salmon leaping from an Alaskan lake wins British wildlife snapper an international photo contest
Nick Dale, from London, fought off hundreds of entries from all over the world to win the 'In the Wild' picture contest run by the Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers. He said: 'The journey upstream sometimes covers hundreds of miles, and the fish must leap out of the water to get over waterfalls. When the bear is at the right place at the right time, dinner is served. This brown bear with shaggy, brown fur is about to catch a salmon in its mouth at the top of Brooks Falls, Alaska. The fish is only a few inches away from its gaping jaws. It did end up as dinner.'
A petty act of vandalism against my heavenly hollyhocks has hit me so hard: RAY CONNOLLY can't understand why a vandal targeted his 5ft flowers which are admired by neighbours and passers-by
Someone broke the growing tips off two of our hollyhocks last week. For some wanton reason he or she stopped on the West London pavement outside our front garden, leaned over the fence and removed the tops. At this stage in the summer, hollyhocks are only about four to five feet tall. By the middle of this month, had they not been so viciously decapitated, the plants would have been seven giant feet high, and other passers-by, who are not of a barbarous nature, would have paused to admire them.

Britain's earliest harvest for 40 YEARS: Farmer says UK heatwave has brought an almost unheard of June yield for the first time in nearly half a century
Bisterne Estate in Ringwood, Hampshire, produces seed barley, milling wheat and biscuit rye, and began harvesting their 750 acres of arable land on June 28, two weeks earlier than normal. Farm manager Martin Button says this is the earliest harvest there since 1976. However, they are expecting a significantly reduced yield as the barley grain is much smaller than in a typical year, which was been attributed to the dry summer. Pictured right: Estate manager Sam Mitchell helps with the harvest.

She was kept captive for five 'harrowing' days after two of the gang members promised her the chance to 'make some money' and lured her to Swansea. Ms Trotman, who was held hostage and threatened with violence, said Yusuf had flattered her and called her 'pretty' in a series of messages on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. Yusuf, 21, and Fesal Mahamud (bottom right), 20, were jailed for a total of 19 years in April in a landmark prosecution under the Modern Slavery Act.
Shocking moment BMW driver, 23, drives at moped rider head-on in spat over his girlfriend - as he is jailed for 13 years
John Boyle-Matcham, 23, steered his father's car into the path of Jamie Clarke's Gilera Runner 125 scooter in Watford last year. Mr Clarke was lucky not to have been killed or paralysed. Boyle-Matcham was jailed for 13 years for the August bank holiday Monday crash, which one person described as looking 'like a war movie' when Mr Clarke's legs appeared to be almost 'severed'. Mr Clarke, now 21, spent two weeks in intensive care being treated for brain seizures and fractures before spending a total of two months at St George's Hospital in Tooting.

Hidden landscape painting by Lucian Freud is discovered under the work of his pub sign artist friend (and now its expected to fetch £30,000 at auction)
Tom Wright met Lucian Freud (pictured in 2001 right) while he was working as an apprentice plasterer and sign painter in Suffolk in the 1930s. After crossing paths at a pub Freud convinced his new acquaintance to join him at his nearby art school, where Wright had his fees waived in exchange for handyman tasks. As the Second World War rumbled on canvases were in short supply and it appears Wright found one of Freud's paintings (pictured bottom left) and simply went over it to create one of his pub signs (top left). After the Freud landscape underneath was discovered it was put up for auction and is expected to sell for £30,000 next week.

Turkish Gay Pride marchers clash with riot police in Istanbul as hundreds run from tear gas terror after annual parade is banned by pious rulers for the fourth year in a row
Riot police in Turkey fired tear gas and beat some of the LGBTI activists who gathered for a Pride march in Istanbul on Sunday - despite authorities banning the event for the fourth year in a row. Around 1,000 people gathered near Istiklal Avenue and Taksim Square where organisers had wanted to originally hold the parade. They chanted slogans and waved rainbow flags on side streets along Istiklal Avenue, Istanbul's main pedestrian thoroughfare. But they were forced to move from street to street for an hour as police tried to end an event the local government had banned for the fourth year in a row. Officers patrolled with dogs and had water cannons stationed nearby. They fired tear gas on groups in some areas and were seen elsewhere pushing and shouting at participants who were too slow to scatter.

Kim Pong-Un! North Korean leader watches the production of pink soap as he and his wife visit cosmetics factory
The Stalinist supremo was photographed inspecting bottled products (left and bottom right) at the Sinuiju facility, which is on the border with China. He also looked on with interest as dozens of bars of pink soap were laid out before him (top right). Kim's wife, Ri Sol-ju, joined him during the factory tour, standing out in a yellow-green dress while surrounded by men in black. The visit has been seen as emphasising North Korea's economic ties with China, its biggest trading partner and backer. Among the dictator's entourage was Kim Song-nam, who is considered an expert on China. Kim reportedly said: 'We shouldn't settle for the past success but aim higher and continue developing.'
