The Belgian King and Queen took their four children to a stunning 12th century abbey for their latest family photoshoot.

King Philippe, 58, and Queen Mathilde, 45 cut a more casual figure than usual as they toured Villers Abbey in Belgium this week.

They were joined by their children Princess Elisabeth, 16, Prince Gabriel, 14, Prince Emmanuel, 12, and Princess Eleonore, 10 as they smiled for the camera.

The young royals were also spotted taking their own shots of the impressive scenery as they played with their tablet computers.

King Philippe opted for a woven blazer and chino trousers, while his wife wore a pair of wide-leg printed trousers and a flowing cream blouse.

Their children looked suitably smart, with the youngest royal, Eleonore the only one in a dress.

They wandered around the grounds of the Abbaye de Villers, pausing for group shots along the way.

The abbey was founded in the 12th Century, under the aegis of Saint Bernard.

The Royal couple were last spotted in purple at a state dinner at Belgium's Castle of Laeken this week.

Queen Mathilde wore a full-length lilac ball gown with pleated detail for the banquet, while her husband marked the occasion with a purple sash.

King Philippe posed for a selfie with his national football team before the start of the World Cup this month, smiling with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Vincent Kompany.

The good luck selfie appears to have worked so far with Belgium in the last 16, as they prepare to face Japan tomorrow.
