Huw Edwards has won himself a legion of admiring fans after sharing pictures of his gruelling new fitness regime.

The BBC News at Ten presenter, 56, sent social media into a frenzy and was labelled a 'bona fide sex symbol' after posting a topless picture from his boxing workout.

The father-of-five has shed three stone after taking on a new boxing regime with his instructor, former professional boxer Clinton McKenzie.

The BBC anchor first sent viewers wild when he presented coverage of the royal wedding in May, and they noted his new slimline figure.

Evidently surprised by the reaction, Edwards told one fan: ‘Your screen might be cracked’.

The 56-year-old has been at the broadcaster for more than three decades and is one of its top earners.

In 2012, he said he was 'never not on a diet' and said he was 'one of those people who can put on weight simply by looking at a Twix.'

He added: 'In my job there’s the added danger of high definition, widescreen TV, so I have to be careful.'

In May, sources claimed Edwards had agreed to take a 20 per cent pay cut after the BBC gender pay row.
