Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania hopes to be back in action at either Uttoxeter on Wednesday or Cartmel on Saturday after giving up his rides at Perth on Sunday.

Mania strained ligaments when playing football in a charity match for the Campbell Gillies Memorial Fund.

His agent, Bruce Jeffrey, said: "He was playing in a charity football match for Campbell Gillies and sprained some ligaments in his knee.

"Its nothing serious and he's hoping to be back midweek for Uttoxeter and if not then Cartmel on Saturday."
