Tessy, who has  two sons - Prince Gabriel, 12, and 10-year-old Prince Noah  - with her ex-husband, told in a speech how she 'cried for years' after miscarrying the former couple's third child, and admitted her divorce had been one of the toughest experiences of her life.

'My divorce was definitely one of the most difficult situations I have ever faced,' said the Princess, who split from her former husband last year after more than 10 years of marriage.

'I experienced the same feelings and emotions when I miscarried my third child. I cried for years over these two situations,' she said, but added: 'I always sourced strength from my two healthy and happy boys who mean the world to me.'

The then Tessy Antony married Prince Louis of Luxembourg in September 2006, seven months after their first child, Gabriel, was born.

The couple were granted a 'quickie' divorce at London's Central Family Court in February last year, after Tessy filed for divorce in January, citing Louis' 'unreasonable behaviour'.

The Princess' remarks were posted on Instagram by the luxury brand Jeanne Chavany - which said in the post it was introducing its followers to 'Tessy Antony, businesswoman, philanthropist and UNAids ambassador' - and then reposted by Tessy on her personal account.

In the lengthy piece, apparently a transcript of a speech, she described herself as a 'single mum of two incredible boys', and described her determination to find the positive in difficult situations.

'Failure is natural,' said the Princess. 'It all depends what you make out of it. There is always a way to turn things around to become positive and constructive for yourself, your family, and people around you.'

She went on to discuss her role with UNAids as a global advocate for young women and girls, and told how, like 'every single one of us, I did and constantly encounter difficult situations.

'That's life and as weird as it sounds, it is needed in order to enable personal growth, resilience and learning whatever the lesson might be.'

The Princess said she is determined to 'keep moving forward no matter how hard it is'.

Born a commoner, the former Tessy Antony joined the Luxembourg Army in 2002 at the age of 18, rising to the rank of corporal. Two years later, when she was one of a handful of female UN peacekeepers in Kosovo, she met the prince, who was visiting the army.

Their relationship was immediately controversial.

Tessy was from a modest family from the small town of Niederkorn, who joined the army aged 18.

Louis was the third son of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, the head of one of Europe's richest royal families, and grew up in a palace.

The Prince's family are understood to have only learned of their love affair when Tessy became pregnant and gave birth aged 19, providing the Grand Duke with his first grandchild - and infuriating the royal family.

Aware of the constitutional crisis they had created by having a child out of wedlock, Prince Louis renounced any claim to the title of Grand Duke.

He and Tessy exchanged vows in September 2006 in a modest church wedding in Gilsdorf.

Princess Tessy's remarks in full

'My name is Tessy and I am a single mum of two incredible boys. Originally from Luxembourg I lived in 5 different countries and worked with thousands of people. The work I do I inspired by the thousand of men, women and children I have meet on my path to happiness and success.

'Success for me has always been measured with the impact my work has brought to thousand of peoples lives all around the world.

'Everything I do reflects my passions and I only engage with projects that inspire me and bring value to other people.

'I believe in teamwork, togetherness and diversity. Only by combining all of these three incredients [sic] is change possible.

'Change is possible but not inevitable. Hence, why I accepted my mandate at UNAids as global advocate for young women and Adolescents girls.

'Moreover, I co founded Professors Without Borders which has brought hope, change and skills to hundreds of young and engaged individuals all around the globe.

'As every single one of us, I did and constantly encounter difficult situations. That’s life and as wierd [sic] as it sounds, it is needed in order to enable personal growth, resilience and learning what ever the lesson might be.

'For me, of course my divorce was definitely one of the most difficult situations I have ever faced. I experienced the same feelings and emotions when I miscarried my third child.

'I cried for years over these two situations. Yet, I always sourced strength from my two healthy and happy boys who mean the world to me.

'My mindset was and remains always very clear: focus on the positivity around me, especially my two sons, and keep moving forward no matter how hard it is.

'Failure is natural. It all depends what you make out of it. There is always a way to turn things around to become positive and constructive for yourself, your family and people around you.

'Self care and resilience are key to get you through everything.

'Of course family and friends are crucial. However, if you’re not well from the inside out...'
