Project Runway star Chris March reveals he's partially paralyzed a year after fall left him in coma

He was a contestant on Bravo's Project Runway season 4 and became a designer to stars such as Madonna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Meryl Streep.

And now Chris March is sharing more details about the health crisis that has left him partially paralyzed and facing mounting medical bills.

On June 18, on what he said was the one-year-anniversary of when his problems started, he wrote on Facebook: 'I fell and hit my head in my apartment. It’s that simple. I passed out and laid there for 4 days. I woke up and called 911 and somehow got to the hospital.'

Once at the hospital, doctors discovered his organs were failing and he was placed on a ventilator in a medically-induced coma.

'My kidneys failed, my lung kept collapsing, my gall bladder was infected. I had a wound on my right leg. My body went septic. The coma lasted about 2 months,' March revealed.

'I came close to death many times—they called my family and they were told if they wanted to say goodbye to come right away,' he said.

He went on: 'Somehow I miraculously woke up—I couldn’t talk and didn’t know where I was for a couple of months. I ended up being paralyzed in both legs from the knees down. My right hand and arm are paralyzed.'

Back in March, a friend set up a GoFundMe page for the designer to help with his rising medical costs.

And Bravo's Andy Cohen tweeted a link to the fundraising page, along with the message: 'Chris March, the lovable, wonderful, talented alum of Bravo's "Project Runway" and "Mad Fashion" is in bad shape and needs our help with his medical care. Anything you can give to help is appreciated.'

'This has been a long and extremely difficult journey, physically and emotionally,' he explained.

'I have good days and bad days and the worst days you can imagine, but I still have my brain, and for that miracle I am forever grateful.'

He added that he has lost 160 pounds in the past year due to his illness.

As of Monday, the GoFundMe page had raised donations of $33,763 of a $100,000 goal.
