The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wedding thank you card has been revealed for the first time by a royal fan account on Instagram.

Letters Royal shared a snap of the missive from Kensington Palace, which features a candid black and white snap of the happy couple, taken by official wedding photographer Alexi Lubomirski.

The card was sent to everyone who congratulated them on their marriage on 19th May, after being overwhelmed with good wishes.

The message inside read: 'The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did.

'It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.'

The couple who have tried to eschew royal formality chose a more candid snap from their big day for the card, rather than one of the posed shots with the wedding party.

Previously, their wedding photographer Alexi Lubomirski said that the image had come about very naturally and took just moments to capture.

It was just one of those magical moments, when you're a photographer and everything falls into place,' he explained.

'The sun is setting right just over the top of Windsor Castle just behind them, it was just the most serene, beautiful light, they're in love, walking around this beautiful garden.

'I said just before you go in, let's sit down on these stairs, and she just slumped in between his legs.

'They were just laughing because they were joking about how they were exhausted and finally it was over.'

It's the second thank you card the couple have sent out, after writing to wellwishers who congratulated them on their engagement.

An image, shared on Instagram by @ParkysPrincess, shows the inside of the card which reads: 'Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle were incredibly touched that you took the trouble to write as you did in connection to their forthcoming Wedding.

'It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated. His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle send you their warmest thanks and very best wishes.'
