Ariana Grande models thigh-high boots as she steps out with a female pal in NYC

She recently got engaged to Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson.

But Ariana Grande was enjoying the company of a female pal when she was glimpsed stepping out in New York City of a Thursday.

The 25-year-old pop act wore a massive grey sweater that obscured whatever bottoms she had on, gathering her hair into its signature high ponytail.

She slid into a thigh-high pair of high-heeled black boots, obscuring the tattoo she appears to have got on her left foot in tribute to Pete's late father Scott.

The tattoo read: '8418,' the firefighter badge number Scott used before he died on September 11, 2001, working at the site of the World Trade Center attack.

Pete's tattoos include '8148' on his left arm - as well as two tattoos that nod to Ariana, including her initials on one one of his thumbs.

The 24-year-old, who was seven when he lost his father, also has her Dangerous Woman album art's bunny mask tattooed behind one of his ears.

Ariana found herself defending her fiancé on Twitter after the comedian was denounced for a joke he made last year.

According to the Mirror, he was doing a bit comparing Ariana's fame to Britney Spears, and noted: 'Britney Spears didn't have a terrorist attack at her concert.'

He was referring to the jihadist suicide bombing last summer that claimed the lives of 22 victims at Ariana's show in Manchester last May.

'For anyone to joke about this situation is disgusting and I think he should publicly apologize for it. The families will find it equally as disgusting. We don’t need jokes about it, there have been plenty around, and it’s heartbreaking to hear every day,' said Charlotte Hodgson, the mother of a teenage girl killed in the attack.

After someone tweeted Wednesday that 'I don't know why she is still with Pete,' she replied Thursday: 'this has been v tough & conflicting on my heart. he uses comedy to help ppl feel better ab how f-ed up things in this world are.'

Added she: 'we all deal w trauma differently. I of course didn’t find it funny. it was months ago & his intention wasn’t/ is never malicious but it was unfortunate'.

After a swirl of speculation to that effect last month, Pete confirmed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he and Ariana had indeed gotten engaged.

'I feel like I won a contest,' Pete quipped, saying of the engagement: 'It's f***ing lit, Jimmy,' and calling himself 'a lucky motherf***er.'

It emerged at the start of May that Ariana and her longtime boyfriend, the rapper Mac Miller, had called it a day on their relationship.

In a flash, the rumor mill started churning out chatter about her and Pete, who made their relationship Instagram official at the end of May.

Pete previously dated Larry David's daughter Cazzie. In the middle of May on Open Late With Pete Rosenberg, he confirmed that relationship was over.
