Denzel Washington teams with Boys & Girls Clubs fundraiser as they 'helped make me the man I am today'
Denzel Washington is hoping to give back.
The Academy Award-winning star of 1989's Glory and 2001's Training Day, in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Clubs, is providing a Los Angeles vacation, a luxe hotel stay, and two tickets to the Tinseltown debut of his new movie, The Equalizer 2.
'The Boys & Girls Club helped make me the man that I am today,' the 63-year-old actor told People Thursday. 'The staff at the Mt. Vernon Boys & Girls Club invested their time in developing me and that is why I have been the National spokesperson for Boys & Girls Clubs of America for more than 20 years.'

The winner of the auction - which will be culled out of a pool of donors - will also be invited to the after-party and get to meet the perennial A-lister.
In February, the Roman J. Israel, Esq. actor penned an essay published on Essence in which he extolled the virtues of the Boys & Girls Club.
In it, he noted his similarities with Carlos Polanco, the teen who captured the organization's National Youth of the Year honors last year.
'Too many of my childhood friends had little structure or guidance. Some had run-ins with the law and ended up in prison. That could have been me,' said the Fences star, citing the critical influence of his parents and those in the Boys & Girls Club.

He wrote: 'But, like Carlos, I was lucky. My father was a Pentecostal preacher who taught me the importance of faith. My mother was a beautician who sacrificed to get me the best education possible.
'But I also had a local Boys & Girls Club with mentors who cared and gave me the confidence I needed to set higher goals than I might have.'
The Equalizer 2, co-starring Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo, arrives in theaters July 20.
