She will be working with Storey as well as her longtime friend Cassie Zebisch.

The TV star struggled after she split from Tarek in December 2016. Not only was the father of her children no longer living with her, but she also was not sure what would happen with their hit TV series Flip Or Flop.

'Two years ago I was focused on trying not to sink,' she told the site.

She found her way out of the darkness by being healthy. 'After I started exercising, eating right, surrounding myself with the correct people, I felt this switch,' she said.

Now she has her own HGTV show, Christina on the Coast, without Tarek. And she is in love with British TV presenter Ant Anstead.

She and Storey felt the pull to help others. 'When I met Tim, we realized there was an opportunity for us to change people’s lives,' said the star. 'I love to fix up a house, but I also love to help people. I feel like that’s my calling.'

She added, 'Everyone’s been there. Everyone’s had a setback, but it’s how you move forward and what you do with your future, that’s what matters.'

Also in her People cover story she said she was very careful when starting her new life.

'I thought of this year like a rebuild. So I'm starting from scratch. I'm moving, I have a new TV show, a new boyfriend—there's a lot of projects going on. I'm just so happy, and for the first time in a long time, I feel at peace, which is such a good feeling.'

She also went into more detail about her split from Tarek. 'I'I felt like I was drowning,' Christina confessed. 'I was doing whatever I could to stay above water and just get through the day.'

And the curiosity factor was very high about them especially amid claims he had gone into the forest with a gun after they fought.

'A lot of people were thinking, "What's going to happen?"' she said.

'Tarek and I were so tied together on everything: real estate, the show, our children, our house. It was so stressful, and everyone was worried that it was going to explode.'

But they found a way to co-parent their kids.

Last week on GMA, El Moussa spoke about the new dynamic between her and her ex Tarek on their long-running HGTV show.

'I think because our divorce was so public and there were so many stories and false stories and so much going on, that for us, actually including some of our real life into the show is important.

'I think it's important for people to see what goes on with us on a daily basis.'

The reality TV star also spoke about her forthcoming Flip Or Flop spin-off series, Christina On The Coast.

'It's actually going to follow me fixing up my own house as well so people are going to get to see a little bit more into my personal life and how I'm designing my own house.'

This summer she bought a $4.1m home in Newport Beach, California.

'I'm also helping eight homeowners fix up their house[s],' she said.

A big factor in Christina starting a show without Tarek would seem to be her admission that starring with her ex in Flip Or Flop is 'beyond awkward'.

In a recent episode of the HGTV hit, Tarek calls his ex to tell her about a lead on a house, before informing her he can't check it out right now because he has a date.

'What does she look like?' Christina probes with a smile. 'About 5'5'-and-a-half, blonde...' he replies.

'I thought you didn't like blondes anymore?' she sneers in return.

Tarek then explains to the camera: 'Christine and I split about a year ago, and right now we're both trying to get back into the dating scene.'

Christine adds: 'This would probably be awkward for any exes, but since we have to see each other every day it's beyond awkward; So I'm planning on staying friendly and keeping things light.'
