'I'll never forget': Man v. Food's Adam Richman reveals the one surprising dish he can no longer stomach after years of competitive eating

Man v. Food's Adam Richman has devoured a three kilogram burrito and a metre-long Bratwurst sausage without even breaking a sweat.

But during an appearance on Wednesday's The Project, the 44-year-old competitive eater revealed the one food he can no longer stomach.

Speaking to panellist Tommy Little, the presenter said that oysters are off the menu.

During the segment, Tommy first recalled a story about how an eating contest had 'ruined' barbecued ribs for him.

Turning to Adam, who hosted the Travel Channel's hit show Man v. Food, he asked pointedly: 'Have you ruined food for yourself?'

Taken by surprise at the question, Adam said it was actually oysters that he can no longer stomach.

Adam then recalled a crazy eating challenge: 'I had to do 180 oysters,' he said, amid the studio audience fawning with shock and surprise.

Making matters worse, the Brooklyn-based star admitted the challenge occurred after a bad break-up.

'I'll never forget, I sadly had just had a really rough break-up,' he said.

'I was in New Orleans and I met a girl after the challenge, and I was just sort of chatting her up,' Adam said.

He continued: 'Then a man walked by and was like "Careful girl, he's just had 180 oysters!,' throwing his hands up in the air.

The comedian was then probed by host Lisa Wilkinson, who asked how 'dudes' are able to stay so slim after their crazy challenges.

'With the dudes that do them, why is everyone so slim?' The Project's Lisa Wilkinson also questioned Adam on why competitive eaters don't seem to become overweight

'Can you answer the one question that I've always wanted answered?' she asked.

Taking the question in good humour, the Yale-educated sushi chef replied: 'Thanks for the compliment about my physique.'

He went on to say: '[They understand] muscle expands greater than fat does,' adding, 'the leaner you are, the greater expansion you have.'
