Donald Glover recently took on the younger version of the role in the latest franchise spin-off Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Calrissian is arguably the biggest remaining character from the first trilogy, with Harrison Ford's Han Solo and Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker now killed off, while a return for Princess Leia now impossible following the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher in 2016.
According to THR, rumors about Williams joining the final chapter of the Skywalker saga picked up steam recently when he pulled out of a number of upcoming sci-fi convention appearances citing 'movie schedule conflictions'.

However it later emerges Vader forced him to double-cross Han and his friends, capturing them and using them as bait to lure Luke Skywalker.
But Calrissian redeems himself by helping free the prisoners, and later pilots his former ship, The Millennium Falcon, in the Battle Of Endor, successfully destroying the Death Star II.
