One fan quizzically tweeted: 'you and liam or this game?' while another added 'you said it was last week... stop messing the poor lad around #teamLiam'.

Another follower wrote: 'Looks like you're back in the game @LiamPayne.'

Chezza then concluded her football tweetfest by showering praise on the squad and their manager.

She wrote:'We still changed the history of the past 28 years. I’m proud of how far we came and proud of Gareth Southgate. Congrats boys.'

Cheryl announced her split from Liam at the beginning of July, and in a new interview with People Magazine Bedroom Floor hitmaker Liam said he wants their son Bear, 16 months, to have a stable home life.

Liam, who's hectic work schedule has been rumoured to be one of the reasons behind his break up from Cheryl, says he would never go on the road with little Bear.

The 'Strip That Down' hitmaker knows the importance of a mother and baby's bond, telling People magazine: 'Babies want their mum; I would never have wanted to get in the way of that.'

He insists that his time apart from Bear during his jet-setting promo work for his solo career has only strengthened his bond with his son, explaining: 'It was actually easier to go out on the road just knowing he wanted his mum. Now he looks at me and points at me like, "Here's this fun guy!" He knows.'

Speaking to Elliot Holman on Total Access earlier this year the proud dad hit back at the dad-shaming he has received for working during his son's first year, pointing out: 'People have an issue with me going out to work. I know there are a lot of parents out there who are working really hard for their kids.

'Unfortunately, when you have a child, life does not stop, you have to carry on.

'For me, the main thing is this, I can either sit round at home and be a bum and enjoy the success I've had so far and teach my son absolutely nothing and all the wrong morals or I can go out and work really hard for what I want and do some amazing things and through the success show him what you can do with your life if you try.'

Liam is reported to have left the £5million Surrey mansion he and Cheryl, 35, shared to live in a west London flat in the wake of the split.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: 'Liam had to find somewhere quickly when they split and his main criteria was a place in London.'

They continued: 'Although the Surrey house was his, he wanted Cheryl and Bear to be comfortable and safe, which is why he moved out.

'The building he's in now is nowhere near as glamorous as anywhere he's lived since becoming famous. It's miles from where you'd expect a millionaire pop star to live.'

While his new home may not be lavish, the source did add that it was exactly what he needed as he continued his tour and also began work on his new album.

Liam and Cheryl announced they had split by posting identical messages on Twitter earlier this month, following a two and a half year relationship.

The parents said separating had been 'a tough decision for us to make'. The statement added: 'We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.'
