A dangerous new craze shows children as young as one being filmed dancing to a hip-hop song before being suddenly yanked off-screen by their legs.

The new trend is dubbed the zoom challenge and has become a viral sensation racking up thousands of views on social media.

Many of the clips start as the mostly young children sit on the floor listening to the song Mickey by Lil Yachty before someone off-camera grabs them by the legs and pulls them off screen. many hitting their heads on the floor.

With the lyrics 'Trapping out the back streets, runnin' through the packs like a track meet – ZOOM,' in the background, the video sees the person and in some cases, animals abruptly yanked off.

In some of the clips children including toddlers and babies bump their heads hard off the floor, although others seem to enjoy the stunt.

Animals including cats and dogs can be seen lying asleep as someone films them before being violently pulled off-screen.

There is no suggestion that anyone featured in this video has been hurt but there is a serious risk of injury.

Judging by the strength at which they are being pulled, it would appear to involve an adult yanking the youngsters, although there is no way of verifying this.

Some children appear to be sitting on beds or using a pillow to cushion their blow.
