A man has tragically died just one hour after hearing the news that his partner of 35 years had been killed in a car crash.  Ron Niemi, 59, and Barbara Butler, 64, both passed away last Tuesday in Pigeon, Michigan. In his dying breaths, a heartbroken Ron had told the couple's children that he didn't know what he would do without their mother. The couple, described as lifelong companions, leave behind nine children and 25 grandchildren who are all struggling to deal with the tragic loss of both parents.  

The widow of a man who was crushed to death while repairing a Colorado ski lift is being denied half of his workers' compensation benefits because he had traces of marijuana in his system.  Adam Lee, 40, died back in December after suffering a crushing chest injury when he got caught up in a magic carpet ski escalator at Loveland Ski Area. His grieving wife Erika has now been told that she will not receive half of her husband's benefits because he legally used marijuana. The couple have two daughters, aged 12 and 10, and a five-year-old son.

Meghan Markle's father is not going to stop speaking out about his daughter and the Royal Family - no matter how 'frustrated' they get. Thomas Markle said in an interview on Tuesday that he's unfazed by reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are fed up with him doing paid interviews with the media. Thomas, who recently called out his estranged daughter in an interview with the Sun on Sunday, said he won't stop speaking to the media until he's allowed to be a part of Meghan's life. 'I was silent for a full year and the press beat me up every day saying I was a hermit hiding in Mexico, so I gave my story,' he told TMZ . 'Apparently that interview put the Royal Family in their silence mode ... so, I gave another interview to break the silence. All they have to do is speak to me.'

'It’s been 37 days since I’ve held my baby girl,' Morgan Beck wrote on Instagram, over an adorable picture of 19-month old Emeline Grier Miller. 'I pray to God no other parent feels this pain.' Beck, a professional beach volleyball player and model, had taken her daughter to a neighbor's home on June 9 when the toddler wandered off. When her mom went to look for her, a few minutes later, she found Emeline's body in the pool. Beck immediately jumped in to get the girl, and once she was back on dry land multiple people tried to resuscitate her with no luck.

LeSean McCoy told a 911 operator in 2017 that he simply wanted to get his ex-girlfriend 'out of my home safely' during a domestic dispute that has come to light in the wake of allegations that the Buffalo Bills running back may have played a role in last week's brutal attack on the woman. 'I'm an NFL player, ma'am,' McCoy can be heard telling the 911 operator in a call that was released by Milton, Georgia police on Tuesday afternoon. 'I play for the Buffalo Bills, for the NFL. I don't want no drama.' When asked if the dispute with his now ex-girlfriend Delicia Cordon was physical or verbal, McCoy told the operator it was only verbal. 'I didn't get physical with her,' he told the 911 operator last July.

Richard 'Old Man' Harrison (right) passed away on June 25, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. According to reports obtained by The Blast published on Tuesday, the Pawn Stars patriarch left his son Christopher out of the will. The documents obtained by the outlet also state that his famous son Rick Harrison is the administrator of his estate. Rick is pictured center on the photo left with his father and brother Corey in 2009.

A lesbian couple searching for the owner of a lost dog Sunday evening were victim to a horrific verbal attack by a homophobic man who spotted them together near his property. Trudy and Wendy Dragoon had been walking on Southeast Duke and Southeast 63rd Avenue in Portland, Oregon at the time the furious man approached the women with two fists in the air. The married couple shared footage of the disturbing incident to their social media pages this week.

So what is the Russian military intelligence unit that is being accused by the United States of a hacking campaign meant to disrupt the 2016 presidential election? The GRU - an acronym which stands for Glavnoye razvedyvatel’noye upravleniye , or Main Intelligence Directorate - is at the center of the election meddling scandal. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team handed down indictments last week against 12 senior members of the GRU, alleging that they masterminded the hacking campaign against the Democratic Party. The Russian president has one of four lavish £390million IL-96-300PU presidential jets to call upon for travel while Donald Trump relies on his own private airliner - Air Force One. The exterior of Putin's jet looks like a basic model but the cabin is lavishly decorated with tapestries and gold accents and even a gold-plated toilet. Meanwhile the US presidential plane has a cabin area of nearly 4,000-sq-ft and accommodations include a bedroom, bathroom, gym, offices and even a fully functioning medical suite.

After 428 years, the mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke remains unsolved. A reexamination of the Dare Stone (right), supposedly written by colonist Eleanor White Dare, could bring answers. The original Dare Stone was found in 1937 and taken to Emory University, before it was bought by Brenau University. Though it was difficult to read, scholars at Emory were able to decipher the message, which, if authentic, tells the gruesome story of what happened to the Roanoke colonists. Though there have been doubts of the stone's veracity, Brenau took a sample from it in 2016 with the help of geologists at the University of North Carolina in Asheville. They were able to determine approximately where in Virginia the stone is from based on the minerals present in it. Though Brenau wants to do more studies, it is a small university and bringing together the funding to do comprehensive research is difficult. The former First Lady (left) was attending a dinner organised by The Hunter Foundation (THF) in Edinburgh earlier this evening when she made the remarks. While talking about Trump (inset), she said: 'There's something wrong with us as women that we would make that choice... we can't be okay with mediocrity with men, but demand excellence from women.' Mrs Obama's strong words against Trump come just hours after her husband Barack (right) gave a sharp rebuke to Trump by warning that 'strongman politics are ascendant' in a speech in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Donald Trump Jr and his new girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle turned into a pair of club kids while travelling through the Côte d'Azur last week. The first son, 40, and his new squeeze, 49, hit up a pool party in St Tropez and then rallied to stop by a second club later that night in Monte Carlo. There, the two were photographed posing alongside an eclectic and international group of pals that included German designer Philipp Plein, America artist Alec Monopoly and the club's owner Antonio.

Barack Obama used a speech in Johannesburg, South Africa, in honor of the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's birth, to criticize his successor without ever using his name. He took aim at 'strongman politics' in his highest-profile speech since leaving office, urging people around the world to respect human rights and other values now under threat in an impassioned address marking the 100th anniversary of anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela's birth. Obama opened by calling today's times 'strange and uncertain,' adding that 'each day's news cycle is bringing more head-spinning and disturbing headlines.' These days 'we see much of the world threatening to return to a more dangerous, more brutal, way of doing business,' he said.

The ragged funnel cloud was spotted from both Brooklyn and New Jersey circulating over the water on Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service said in a statement that 'there was no apparent sign of the circulation touching the water'. There were no reports of damage. The rains stopped on Tuesday evening for much of the region as the storm moved off to sea, but not before delivering misery for air travelers and commuters, and threatening to delay the start of the MLB All-Star game.

Ride-sharing company Lyft said Tuesday that it's investigating how a former driver now charged in a series of rapes passed a background check even though federal immigration officials say the suspect was living in the country illegally. The San Francisco district attorney's office charged Orlando Vilchez Lazo (left), 36, with raping four women while posing as a ride-share driver in San Francisco. Lyft spokeswoman Kate Margolis said the company is investigating Lazo's employment history.

Officers William Umana and Paul Solomon opened fire on murder suspects Rene Nunez (top right) and Fidel Miranda (bottom right) during a high-speed chase across northern Las Vegas last week (left). The chase began after father Thomas Romero, 25, was fatally shot multiple time in the chest at a car wash. Umana and Solomon began chasing the suspects' car before Nunez and Miranda opened fire, prompting the cops to shoot back. The chase eventually ended when the suspects crashed into a school and tried to flee on foot. Miranda was shot dead and Nunez was shot but survived.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott's GQ cover has been branded a 'cheap rip-off' of an iconic Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg photo shoot by famed photographer Helmut Newton. The couple posed for a series of photographs for the men's publication but Twitter users were quick to point out the striking similarity to the 1978 image.   One user wrote: 'Whoever shot that GQ cover tried to replicate that famous photo of serge gainsbourg and jane birkin.... tried.'

The photos shed light on the final ten years of the doomed Russian royals with images depicting both the luxury and hardships of the Romanov family. Russia's last Tsar, his wife and five children were put to death by Bolshevik soldiers in the city of Yekaterinburg 18 months after Nicholas abdicated in the February 1917 revolution. The newly released album shows the family holidaying in Cowes on the Isle of Wight in 1909 (bottom left) and on a steamer in 1913 (top left). But they also show the family with Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin shortly before his murder in 1916 (top right) as well as Nicholas II and his son Alexei in captivity sawing wood in remote central Russia in 1917 (bottom right).

Video recorded by Chris and Anne Mackie, from Blythe in California, shows massive flames engulfing the trees lining part of the Colorado River, with extreme heat and strong winds pushing the flames up into a tornado shape. As the flames and smoke spun on Saturday, the 'firenado' eventually hit the water, causing a huge water spout. Despite the apocalyptic scene just yards away from them, a group were seen riding a speedboat up and down the river.

Charles and Kenya are one of four couples who are turning to switch therapy on the third season of the Lifetime reality series Seven Year Switch, which premieres on Tuesday. Religion was important to them when they first met 12 years ago, but Charles has moved out of their home and stopped going to church with her. As part of the unique therapy, they will spend two weeks in experimental marriages with other people's spouses to see if they want to stay together or get divorced. They both agree it's their 'last chance' to save their marriage.

River Country was Disney's first water park and when it opened in 1976 in Orlando, Florida, it was an instant success, attracting an average of 4,700 visitors per day in its first year of operation. But throughout the Eighties the park was dogged by problems, the first coming in 1980 when an 11-year-old boy died of a rare brain-eating infection caught from an amoeba in the water. Two more youngsters then drowned at the park in 1982 and 1989. Despite this, it kept operating until 2001 when it closed its doors for good amid a nationwide drop in tourist numbers following the 9/11 attacks.

Service dog S'mores was caught on camera fiercely barking at a lioness while at the zoo with his owner Kylee-Rhiannon Fulk on Sunday. The lioness immediately noticed him and began tracking the pup's movements. As S'mores continued to bark the lioness pounced on the glass and tried to paw at him.

Drake released a new album earlier this month, along with a single called In My Feelings. Social media personality Shiggy posted a video of himself dancing to it outside a car door and has inspired others to follow suit. Will Smith, Ciara, and Odell Beckham, Jr. have joined in, sharing clips of themselves grooving to the song, though they all did so in a safe way. But some people have taken it a step further by dancing alongside a car while its still moving. The passenger door hangs open while someone records from the driver's seat.

Shocking footage shows a man being bitten by a monkey as he visited a monkey sanctuary in Bali, Indonesia. The man, who's identity is not known, can be seen grinning as the Balinese long-tailed monkey climbs over his back before jumping off and trying to get into his bag which was on the floor. When the man goes to grab it he gets a nasty surprise from the animal who was being friendly just moments before.

In the clip, British pianist Paul Barton explains that the 'gentle' old female elephant, named Lam Duan, has been blind for a number of years and that he wants to play her some music. Mr Barton then plays the classical Bach number while the 62-year-old elephant sways her head and trunk to the music, almost in a trance-like state. Lam Duan, which means 'Tree With Yellow Flowers', currently lives in Elephants World in Thailand, an animal rescue facility looking after sick, old, or disabled elephants.

Levon Drover was paddling off the coast of Ingonish, Nova Scotia on July 5 when he spotted two Beluga whales swimming right underneath his board. He later went underwater and the whales peacefully floated by as he filmed with his GoPro. Drover, a wildlife photographer, said the experience was one of the most incredible he's ever had.
