Melania Trump went for a casual look as she and her husband returned to Washington, D.C. on Monday night, after a week-long trip to Europe during which she showed off lavish fashions.

The first lady, 48, wore a simple white button-down shirt tucked into slim jeans as she and President Donald Trump, 72, walked across the South Lawn.

She completed her relaxed outfit with a pair of navy flats — likely giving her feet some rest after spending much of the past week in designer heels — and a matching Hermes Birkin purse.

Melania, who wore her hair down in a sleek blowout, buttoned her shirt all the way up and rolled up her sleeves to perfect her casual-but-chic look.

On the make-up front, she went for neutral shades, lining her eyes with black eyeliner and dark eye shadow and finishing off her look with nude lipstick.

Her husband, meanwhile, went for a dark suit, white shirt, and red tie, a look he often favors.

Donald and Melania touched down in D.C. on Monday following the president's first summit with Russia's Vladimir Putin, which took place in Helsinki and left a wake of confusion and outrage in the U.S.

After a remarkable 45-minute joint press conference, the White House struggled to explain why Trump aligned so closely with the Russian leader, a chief geopolitical foe.

Several prominent Republicans expressed disappointment with the president's performance. Intelligence officials publicly broke from the president's comments about Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign.

The aftermath was a reminder of Trump's singular, political positioning. After a year and a half in power, Trump still alienates both his party and some in his own government.

On Monday, Melania made sure she stood out from the crowds as she joined her husband in Helsinki, wearing a very summery pale yellow jacket coat that came complete with a unique butterfly-shaped belt buckle.

The first lady looked radiant in the $3,700 sunshine-yellow Gucci jacket dress, which features a funky enamel butterfly at the center of the attached belt, even making sure to wear a matching pair of bright yellow high heels to complete the look.

Wearing her long brown hair in a straight style that swept slightly across her face, Melania stood side-by-side with her husband and the Russian president in Finland's capital, where her husband looked ahead to 'great opportunities' between the US and Russia.

In keeping with her sleek 'do and fashion-forward ensemble, Melania opted for a very glamorous make-up look for the photo op with the two presidents, accentuating her high cheek bones with a healthy helping of contour, and lining her eyes with a smokey brown shadow.

She finished the look off with some pale pink lip gloss.

It is the second time that Melania has donned the bright sunshine-inspire hue on this trip; on Thursday evening the first lady wore a very similar shade, but this time in the form of a stunning caped gown while attending a lavish gala dinner with her husband at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

Although her Monday morning look was much more low-key than the lavish floor-length dress, the bright shade of the fabric was almost identical.

Melania's chic sense of style wasn't the only skill she showcased on Monday; during a press conference held by her husband and the Russian president, the mother-of-one showed off her sporting prowess when Trump threw her a soccer ball that he had been passed by Putin.

Having mentioned this year's FIFA World Cup, which Russia hosted, Putin gifted Trump a soccer ball, saying: 'Speaking of the football, Mr President, I give this ball to you and now "the ball is in your court". All the more that the United States will host the World Cup in 2026.'

Having been handed the ball, Trump then thanked Putin, saying, 'Thank you very much, we will host it, and we hope we do as good a job.

'That's very nice, that will go to my son Barron, we have no question — in fact, Melania, here you go!'

Trump then threw the ball over the podium towards his wife, who was sitting in the front row — and deftly caught the soccer ball, before perching it on her lap for the remainder of the conference.

However, while her soccer skills may have overtaken her stylish display on this occasion, the first lady's wardrobe has certainly had its fair share of time in the spotlight during the couple's trip.

Indeed, Melania's Gucci dress is just one of her latest runway-worthy styles on her European tour, which included stops in Belgium, England, Scotland, and Finland.

As well as the beautiful J. Mendel she wore to the Blenheim Palace bash, the first lady has also showcased pieces from Burberry, Victoria Beckham and Ralph Lauren, as well as toting an Hermes Birkin handbag on several occasions.

Melania has worn numerous pairs of Louboutin heels throughout the visit, as well as clothes by an array of renowned designers that also included Gucci and Raf Simmons for Calvin Klein.

She was seen carrying the high-priced purse on Sunday, when she arrived at Helsinki Airport wearing a very trendy outfit of brown leather trousers and a sleek pale grey jacket over a white button-down.

However, despite wearing heels on almost every outing throughout this trip, Melania chose to keep her trusty Christian Louboutin heels tucked away on this occasion and instead wore brown flats from the designer brand as she descended Air Force One.

She finished off the look with a pair of large sunglasses, and once again wore her brown hair in a sleek straight style around her shoulders.
