Is a Fortnite TV show coming to Disney XD?
- Rumors of a Fortnite TV series on Disney XD have just recently circulated online
- A Twitter account is believed to have started the speculation on July 15, 2018
- An IMDB listing also appeared to give credence to the idea of a Fortnite TV show
Is a new TV show based on the hit video game Fortnite coming to Disney XD soon?
That’s the question that thousands of fans have been asking after rumors quickly circulated online that a new TV series based on the game would be released on Disney XD.
The rumors were first sparked after a social media post on Twitter seemed to announce that a TV series based on the video game would in fact be premiering in the near future.
Rumors of an upcoming Fortnite TV series spread very rapidly online after a Twitter post seemingly announced that one would premiere on Disney XD next year on August 12, 2019
The Twitter account @DisnayXD posted a message on July 15 that stated that a new Fortnite TV show would premiere on August 12, 2019. It also included what claimed to be a sneak peek video of the upcoming TV show.
Unfortunately for fans of the video game, that Twitter profile is merely a parody account with few followers and tweets.
The hoax tweet, however, quickly spread online, leading many fans of the game to falsely believe that an actual Fortnite TV program was in the works at Disney XD.
Complicating matters was the fact that an entry for a Fortnite TV show also appeared on IMDB evidently as part of the wide-ranging hoax, lending credence to the idea that a TV series based on the popular video game was indeed in the works.
However, no plans for any Fortnite TV shows by Disney or other media companies have ever been announced to date.
What is Fortnite?
Fortnite is a popular shooter video game available on multiple platforms that boasts over 125 million players across the world.
The game’s battle royale mode sees 100 players duke it out to determine the last man standing. Both published and developed by Epic Games, Fortnite is currently available to play on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Mac OS, iOS and Windows.
An Android version of the hit video game is also slated to be released sometime in the near future.
