On Wednesdays she wears pink! Ivanka Trump steps out in a pastel skirt suit with an edgy zipper up the front - after failing to publicly acknowledge daughter Arabella's birthday

  • Ivanka was seen leaving the front gate of her Washington, D.C. home in a pale pink skirt suit at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday
  • The first daughter's ladylike peplum blazer was paired with a matching pencil skirt featuring a zipper up the front
  • Ivanka's eldest child Arabella turned seven on Tuesday, however the 36-year-old did not publicly mark the occasion on social media as she normally does
  • She did however share several images and videos during her busy day, which involved several different official meetings and activities
  • On Wednesday morning, Ivanka discussed paid family leave at the Bipartisan Policy Center
  • The senior adviser also spoke at a cabinet meeting held by her father, President Trump, in the Cabinet Room of the White House

Ivanka Trump was dressed to impress in a pale pink skirt suit when stepped out of her Washington. D.C. home on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old first daughter was on her way to the Bipartisan Policy Center to discuss paid family leave, and she had a bright smile on her face as she walked out of her front gate towards the Secret Service SUV parked at the curb.

Ivanka's ladylike peplum blazer was paired with a matching pencil skirt featuring a zipper up the front, and she had it open a few inches past her knee to give the bottom of her suit a small slit.

Ivanka Trump was channeling retro-glam vibes as she stepped out for a busy day at the nation's capital. Wearing a sophisticated wool skirt-suit with a flirty ruffled peplum hem, she teamed this ensemble with a statement brooch and a pair of matching slingbacks from her own line.

The White House senior adviser wore a pearl broach on the lapel of her blazer that matched the pearl studs in her ears, and she topped off the look with a pair of cream kitten heel slingbacks.

Ivanka's long blonde hair was parted down the center and blow-dried straight, and she sported smokey eye make-up and a blush-colored lipstick.

She has been busy advocating for bipartisan support of a paid family leave policy, and while both parties understand its importance, there is still little agreement on how to achieve it.

While speaking at the Bipartisan Policy Center on Wednesday, Ivanka admitted that D.C. is 'not a city that rewards compromise,' but she still remains confident that Congress will reach a consensus on passing a law that will allow new parents to take paid leave after the birth or adoption of a child.

'Because I’m an optimist,' she explained. 'That’s the only way you get things done.'

Pushing policy: Earlier on Wednesday, Ivanka spoke about paid family leave at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, D.C.

'Is it going to be hard? Absolutely,' she added. 'If it was easy it would have been done 25 years ago when FMLA was passed, so it is going to be hard.

'I am realistic about the time frame, and I am realistic about the difficulty.'

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) that was passed in 1993 requires covered employers to provide eligible employees with unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons.

However, it is limited to private-sector employers that have more than 50 employees, never mind the fact that many people can't afford to take an unpaid leave.

'We need a bipartisan solution that is actually going to be signed into law,' she said.

Ivanka later took to Instagram to share photos of herself speaking and meeting with lawmakers during the event.

'Joined Senators Santorum & Dodd, and many other thought leaders today at the Bipartisan Policy Center to encourage an open + bipartisan dialogue on Paid Family Leave,' she wrote.

'Each of these discussions brings us one step closer to developing a policy that supports + empowers American working families, and can garner enough momentum and consensus to be signed into law. #PFL.'

Ivanka also attended a cabinet meeting held by her father, President Trump, in the Cabinet Room of the White House on Wednesday.

At one point, the first daughter stood up and spoke. She held her notes in one hand while she gestured with the other.

Her husband and fellow White House senior adviser, Jared Kushner, watched Ivanka speak from the corner of the room during the meeting.

It has been a busy week for the mother-of-three, whose daughter Arabella, her eldest child with husband Jared, turned seven years old on Tuesday.

But while balloons were seen being delivered to the house early in the morning, Ivanka has yet to post any photos of their celebrations or tributes to her daughter on social media like she typically does.

All of her posts shared on social media on the day itself documented official duties, and made no reference to her child's birthday celebrations.

It's possible that she is hosting Arabella's a birthday party over the weekend when she is off from work. In March, she threw her youngest son, Theodore, a construction site-themed party on a Sunday, a few days before his actual birthday.

Last year, Ivanka posted a snapshot of herself sharing a string of spaghetti with Arabella Lady and the Tramp-style, writing: 'Birthday tradition-- noodles for a long life!'

Long Life Noodles — or Yi Mein — are traditionally eaten at all Chinese celebrations, including birthdays and at the New Year.

Ivanka and her children been putting their own spin on the Chinese tradition of eating long noodles for a long life for many years now, with each of the three siblings sharing a spaghetti dinner with their mother on their birthdays.

The mother-of-three spent the early part of Tuesday traveling to GenCyber's cybersecurity camp at Prince George's Community College in Maryland to meet with middle school and high school students who are passionate about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The goal of the GenCyber's summer camp is to increase an interest in cybersecurity careers and diversity in the cybersecurity workforce.

Ivanka's visit came just one day after her father faced intense bipartisan criticism for his press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland.

She later returned to the White House to listen to her father, President Donald Trump, discuss his meeting with Putin.

Following a diplomatic summit in Helsinkini, Trump came under fire by both Democrats and Republicans after he refused to say whether he believed Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election during a press conference with Putin.

The president, in the first first major retreat of his administration, told the cameras that he misspoke at his Helsinki summit when he said that he did not have 'any reason' to think that Russia meddled in the 2016 election.
