Victoria Beckham reveals she and husband David are 'learning' about fine art... as they amass a collection worth TENS of millions of pounds

Victoria Beckham has revealed that she and her husband David are in the process of learning about Old Master paintings - works made between the 13th and 19th centuries - as she prepares to display the fine art in her London fashion boutique.

The singer-turned-designer has teamed up with Sotheby's to temporarily host a selection of 16 portraits at the flagship store of her eponymous label ahead of their July 4 auction, and she's revealed that art has long been a passion for her and David.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 44-year-old said: 'David and I loved collecting contemporary art for quite some time, but Old Masters is really something new for me, and something I don't know an enormous amount about. I'm really enjoying learning about it. It's been quite incredible.'

Describing the unprecedented collaboration with upscale auction house Sotheby's as a 'dream come true', the mother-of-four also went on to reveal that she and her 43-year-old husband have now become students of the classic works.

'Art is something we're enjoying learning about together, and every piece means something personal to us, so it would be really hard to pick a favourite,' she said.'

However, Victoria - whose contemporary art collection with David is said to include works by Tracey Emin, Julian Schnabel, Damien Hirst and Sam Taylor-Johnson - did admit that she had her eye on one of the pricey canvas paintings.

When asked about if she was tempted to bid on one of the works when they go up for auction, she responded: 'I'd like the Rubens. But he seems to be very expensive.'

Indeed, the Venetian-themed painting in question is valued between £3million and £4million - a relative drop in the ocean for a couple worth hundreds of millions of pounds, thanks to their various businesses and endorsement deals.

Victoria's revelation about her passion for art comes after she and her husband were forced to shoot down rumours that their 19-year-old marriage was on the rocks.

After reports of an impending split began racing around social media earlier this month, Jo Milloy, a spokesman for Spice Girl-turned-designer Victoria, told the Daily Mail the gossip was 'absolute nonsense'.

Meanwhile the former England football captain’s spokesman, Simon Oliveira, dubbed the claims ‘embarrassing and laughable’.

Elsewhere, a spokesman for the couple said: 'There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news.

'This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time,' he continued, before adding the rumours were ‘a crock of s***'.

Claims the couple were planning to divorce circulated on social media, prompting high street bookmaker Paddy Power to suspend betting on them separating.

Paddy Power's move came despite there having been no suggestion the couple were having any marriage difficulties.
