'That was a replica': Pete Davidson hits back at fan who claimed he gifted ex Cazzie David his father's FDNY badge before fiancee Ariana Grande

Pete Davidson gifted his father's NYC Fire Department badge necklace to fiancee Ariana Grande on Saturday.

But when a fan claimed he previously gifted the pendant to his ex-girlfriend Cazzie David, the 24-year-old comedian set the record straight.

'Actually I didn't give that to my ex. Yes, she had one, but it was a replica,' he wrote on Instagram in response to user @iamcharicehughes.

Pete added: 'I had a bunch of replicas made. My sister and grandpa also have one. The one that Ari has is the one my dad actually died in and the one [he] wore his entire career and the one I've worn for 17 years.

'I've actually never taken it off other than for SNL or work. So, it means a lot of me. Hope this helps. Please learn to be nicer and not to assume the worst in people, it's a terrible way to live. Much love.'

Davidson clapped back at a separate internet troll on Saturday who shamed him for gifting the necklace in the first place.

'No girl should ever wear your dad's chain. So disrespectful,' @ej81842 said to the SNL star.

'@ej81842 for ur information that's not just some girl. That's my fiance' he said. 'She's the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much.'

Pete's father, Scott Davidson, wore badge number 8418.

He was wearing the necklace when he died during the September 11 terror attacks in NYC.

Following their speedy engagement in June, Ariana inked Scott's badge number on her left ankle.
