Carey Mulligan steps out in yellow summer dress and a foot brace in rainy NYC after suffering minor injury during Broadway preview

She suffered a minor injury onstage last month, during the previews for critically-acclaimed Broadway show, Girls & Boys.

But Carey Mulligan was not letting the mishap get her down on Tuesday, as she stepped out in her foot brace in NYC.

The actress, 33, slipped into a pretty yellow summer dress as well as her ankle support, as she took a stroll in the rain between shows.

The Suffragette star seemed unfazed by her drizzly surroundings in a strappy yellow maxi dress, which tied at the shoulders with feminine bows, and was patterned with ditzy pink flowers all over.

While she supported her injury with a brace, she added a casual black loafer to her other foot, to keep comfortable during her stroll.

Sweeping her hair into a messy bun and opting for minimal make-up, Carey proved her natural beauty to all as she enjoyed a break from her Broadway run in the city.

The actress is currently giving a 'phenomenal' performance in Girls & Boys, which first debuted on London's West End back in February.

However, the Drive star was forced to cancel a number of her preview shows in June, after sustaining a minor injury onstage.

The June 15, June 16 evening, and June 18 performances of Dennis Kelly's monologue were cancelled due to her injury. MailOnline contacted Carey's representatives for comment at the time.

Carey's esteemed show has been transferred from the Royal Court Theatre - where she began her stage career as a young actress - to the Minetta Lane Theater in New York.

The mother-of-two has been highly praised for the performance, which charts the breakdown of a relationship - from a chance meeting on an EasyJet flight to his absence and her discontent.

The couple share children Leanne and Danny, but Carey is the only presence onstage throughout the show.

While she has received rave reviews for the play, the Great Gatsby star recently revealed she suffered serious anxiety during rehearsals, as she deeply feared being alone onstage.

Carey told London's Evening Standard : 'I had a really hard time coming into the show in London.

'About four weeks into rehearsal, right before previews, I just started having sort of panic attacks and things because I just got very bad anxiety around, I suppose, being on my own on stage.'
