The incredible images shared to ABC Western Plains by Coonabarabran Farmer Graeme Bowden show the sheep's overgrown fleece, stretching around his face and limbs.

The ram - which has been named Shrek II - was located near the Warrumbungle National Park, 550 kilometres northwest of Sydney, when he was spotted playing with a goat in May.

It was a physical struggle to bring Shrek II away from the wild as his heavy fleece weighed him down.

Mr Bowden and his friend helped the sheep 'return to civilisation,' with a sheering makeover - alleviating it of a staggering 30kg in weight.

He claims that the wool, which was 13-inches-long, was surprisingly clean.

Shrek II is currently in good health and spirits due to the newfound relief of his light fleece.

Mr Bowden said he believed Shrek II's fleece was the third heaviest from a single sheep.

He hopes that the hilarious pictures put a smile on the face of people who were having a tough day.

'Would be nice at the moment with the price of wool to have about 2,000 sheep like Shrek! Gee I'd be able to buy some hay,' said Mr Bowden.
