The panel touched on the 24-year-old One Direction star's recent interview with the Evening Standard's ES Magazine, in which he admitted that his baby son Bear's arrival caused a 'massive explosion' into his relationship with Cheryl, 34.

Yet Janet claimed the star only made the comments in order to stay in the limelight, reasoning: 'I think he's said that because he's promoting something.

'I think relationships like that are all about PR and image and keeping in the papers as much as possible.'

'Even in my world where they don't really figure I noticed that they were splitting up and then they were at the Brit Awards together and she was holding the rose which was in sympathy with the Me Two people.'

As her fellow panellists Christine Lampard, Catherine Tyldesley and Nadia Sawalha giggled in shock, Janet added: 'I mean, I'm not a big fan of Cheryl... I'd better not say anything more.'

On Wednesday, Liam broke his silence on claims his relationship with Cheryl was 'effectively over' a week before the BRIT Awards 2018.

Talking about reports a split was imminent, Liam told ES Magazine: 'The funniest thing [about the speculation was that] a week before we were getting married. The next week we're splitting up.'

The duo previously confronted the claims with a rare joint appearance in a public demonstration of their 'rock-hard' relationship.

Yet their overly-affectionate outing in late February raised eyebrows with many, as multiple insiders had come forward to say that they were 'hanging by a thread'.

'For me,' he continued. 'I just like to think we're somewhere in the middle. You know, we have our struggles — like of course I'm not gonna sit here and say that everything's absolutely fine and dandy, because of course you go through different things, and that's what a relationship is.'

He went on to say that their rough patch was inevitable but they were focusing on riding the storm 'together'.

'There was always going to be a little bit of tenseness in the way we sort ourselves out, but tell me a relationship in the world that doesn't go through a spot like that?'

Liam and Cheryl - who have a 10-year age gap and first met when he auditioned for the X Factor at 14 - confirmed reports that they were dating in February 2016.

They have been seemingly smitten ever since, and announced the arrival of their first child in March 2017.

Yet more recently, with a distinct lack of joint appearances and some relentless travel for new dad Liam, it has been speculated that things are not so blissful.
