And Liam Payne appears to be turning his heartache into music as he has reportedly already started penning music around the recent split.

In an Instagram post shared on Friday by pal Abdullah Elkhereiji, the One Direction star, 24, could be seen singing along to what appeared to be his own voice in a previously unheard track, which sent fans into a frenzy.

In the black and white video, Liam - who shares 15-month-old son Bear with Cheryl - sang along to the emotional lyrics in the back of his friend's car before a night out.

With his eyes closed, impassioned Liam was filmed singing the lyrics: 'Call you but you never did / You're playing feelings like it's truth or dare.

The Familiar hit-maker continued: 'I don't want to be the one to tell you when it's over / Everything you do it drives me...'

Fans quickly jumped on the cryptic video and took to Twitter as the excitement grew about the hit-maker releasing his new music.

One fan wrote: 'I'm obsessed with that new song of Liam song and we only got 10 seconds of it, you're such a tease! Please show us some love and mercy  and release that song soon!'

Another jubilant fan commented: 'the new song is so f*****g good. I already need to listen to that album', while a third tweeted that the song was 'already a bop'.

The pair first met on The X Factor in 2008, when she was a judge and he auditioned as a solo contestant, then 14 years old, before he became part of One Direction.

The break-up followed mounting speculation that all was not well, having not been seen together since the BRITs in London in February where they put on a show of unity. 

Liam is already already said to have moved out of the lavish £5million mansion he shared with Cheryl and their young son Bear in leafy Surrey.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with People Magazine has said he wants his son Bear to have a stable home life.

Liam, who's hectic work schedule has been rumoured to be one of the reasons behind his break up from Cheryl, says he would never go on the road with the 16-month-old.

The For You hitmaker knows the importance of a mother and baby's bond, admitting: 'Babies want their mum; I would never have wanted to get in the way of that.'

Meanwhile, Cheryl is also gearing up to release her first new music in more than three years.

And it has been claimed that Cheryl has found inspiration for her comeback album from past heartbreak.

The Sun claims the Fight For This Love hitmaker has recording a track called Let You, with the lyrics centered around giving her love a voice, but forgetting she had one.

Let You is said to be tipped to be the first single and produced by Grammy nominees The Invisible Men, who collaborated with Cheryl on her 2014 album, Only Human.

A source said: 'The track is a huge pop song and a strong contender to be the lead single for Cheryl's comeback.   

'Although the lyrics are about a painful split, it was written before she separated from Liam, but it's obviously something she can relate to from past relationships.

'There are a lot more deeply personal songs on the album, which has been co-penned with her former Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts.'
