How to request a quote

Contact Greg with a description of the project, including your budget and deadline if you have them.

•If I don’t need to inspect the site or ask you for more information, I’ll provide you with a written quote, valid for one month.

•To accept a written quote please return a completed .pdf or paper version of the order slip (which will be at the bottom of the quote). Some jobs may require a 50% deposit in order to schedule the work.

•Once I receive your order (and deposit) I’ll schedule a date to begin (and forward a receipt). If the project requires it (eg. indoors on site, or on a vehicle) I’ll be in contact so that we can agree on a workable date.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.What information do you need before providing a quote?
• Sign dimensions
• The exact wording on the sign
• Who is the sign aimed at and what would you ideally like them to do once they have seen it? (for example: “Pedestrians passing my shop/come in and buy coffee”, “Patients looking for my clinic/find my clinic” or “Motorists travelling at 80kph/remember my name next time they need a plumber”)
• Do you have a design or would you like me to design it?
• If you already have a design, I’ll need a copy (preferably a pdf, eps, or ai) Please have your designer ensure that all text is outlined or converted to curves and that there is nothing else to cause an error when we use the file. Large artwork should be at a 1:10 scale.
• If you have any photos of the site where the sign will be located, please send them along. The best photos are square on and taken from approximately where people will see your signs.
• Would you like me to install it?

2. How soon can you do my sign?
It depends, but I try to do most jobs within 7-10 days of the order date. Often it will be quicker (especially for small or simple jobs) and sometimes longer. The main factor is how much work I already have scheduled at the time of of your order (December is always busy). The most common delays are caused by indecisive customers and materials that need to be freighted from Melbourne.

3. How do you price your signs?
Like most tradesmen, signwriters tend to price their work at an hourly rate plus the cost of materials, (plus GST). For painted signs, I think through all the steps to estimate the hours and add on the cost of paint and any background materials. To simplify quotes on vinyl lettering, I work from a price list based on letter size and number of letters. To simplify quotes for digital printing, I work on time needed to create/modify artwork plus the number of square metres. The vinyl and print prices correspond approximately to hours plus materials but using those systems makes it quicker to provide a quote. For more guidance on prices, see the individual photos of previous work on the Gallery page
