Before facing the Lebanese side, Al Nejmeh, in the round of 32, Al Ahly manager, Patrice Carteron, assures that the Reds’ goal is to win the Arab Club Championship.

The squad to face the Lebanese giants saw the exclusion of Salif Coulibaly, Ali Maaloul, Walid Azarou, Amr Solaya, Eslam Mohareb and Ahmed El-Sheikh.

In the pre-match conference, Carteron stated, “Al Ahly’s goal is to always win the title and not just to participate. This a strong tournament and features many strong teams in the Arab world.”

The Frenchman talked about Al Nejmeh, assuring that he studied the opponents very well and is certain that the team includes very decent players, especially after performing very well against Jordanian side, Al Faisaly, and Club Africian from Tunisia.

Carteron was very pleased to be playing his first match in Egypt and stated that it is the time to apply his rotation policy to give some of the regular starters some rest, especially with the short periods between the Egyptian Premier League, CAF Champions League and the Arab Club Championship matches.

Finally, Carteron emphasized that the club is fighting to win many competitions this year and that all the players included in the club’s squad will be utilized throughout the year in order to be crowned with many titles.
