You can find useful visitor information and leaflets at the Visitor Information Point in the Corn Hall on St Nicholas Street. The Visitor Information was previously located beside The Mere. However, to run the service from here, it would cost more than £60,000 per year which meant Diss tax-payers would have to pay an extra £26 per year. We want to keep the valuable service running, and make sure it has as little impact on our residents’ pockets as possible! By placing the TIC in the Heritage Triangle, we encourage visitors to do a full circuit of our town centre, attracting them to the 60+ independent retailers rather than staying in Mere Street.

The Visitor Information Point holds anything from local accommodation to bus timetables, attractions in the area,  upcoming events and much more. The service is managed by local volunteers who are passionate about encouraging visitors to the area and will be happy to help you with your enquiry. There are also two computers upstairs in the Corn Hall which visitors are welcome to use to search for further information. When calling up ‘Google Chrome’ as an internet browser, click the top right menu button (three dots in a vertical line) and then click ‘bookmarks’. You will then see a list of favourite pages which have been saved for visitors.

  • Where can I find out about upcoming events in the area?

    The Visitor Information Point contains some useful information about upcoming events. Pop into and browse the display of leaflets and posters. You can also look through the events folder which has specifically been created as a useful reference point with lots of event information.

    The Corn Hall has a large variety of events taking place throughout the year. You can pick up an events programme in person from The Corn Hall or visit their website for more details:

    If you have an event you would like to promote, The Town Council maintains two noticeboards in the town, and will happily continue to put up posters here when we have space.
    We regularly update our website with local events in the area under the what’s on page and also advertise local events on our Facebook & Twitter pages.
