Description
The Bastion APC was unveiled at Eurosatory 2010 by the French Defence Company ACMAT, It's a new generation of light wheeled armoured vehicle personnel carrier. The Bastion APC is a 4x4, high-mobility infantry and reconnaissance armoured vehicle developed based on the rugged chassis of the VLRA TDN-TDE series to provide a capable and reliable multirole platform. Bastion APC is economically built with common parts of VLRA 2, enabling easy maintenance and uncomplicated logistics. The mechanical and automotive components of Bastion APC carry the basic design of a standard VLRA TDN-TDE. The Bastion APC incorporates blast protection technology with the mobility of a light armoured vehicle. It was developed to keep the war fighter safe and tackle evolving threats. The Bastion APC is multi-mission capable and is ideal for reconnaissance, forward command and control, patrol, security, escort, route clearance support, peacekeeping, EOD, and urban and close quarters operations. The features of the Bastion APC Acmat combine excellent off-road mobility and performance with high-level protection. The Bastion APC is a multirole armoured vehicle which can be use for a full range of missions as reconnaissance, forward command and control, patrol, security, escort, route clearance support, peacekeeping, urban and close quarter’s operations.

Armament
The Bastion APC Acmat can be fitted with a various types of remote weapon stations and turrets incorporating 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns, 40 mm automatic grenade launcher can be adapted to the Bastion APC range of vehicles. The version presented at Eurosatory was also equipped with three smoke grenade dischargers mounted to each side at the rear of the hull.
Design and Protection
The monocoque hull structure of Bastion APC has optimized body angles and a low silhouette for increased survivability. The high hardness armoured steel hull provides all-round protection against infantry rifles and machine guns (ballistic protection Level 1 to Level 3, NATO STANAG 4569) and artillery shell splinters. The vehicle provides protection against anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and side explosives. The Bastion uses V-hull technology, the purpose of this design is to increase vehicle and crew survivability by deflecting an upward directed blast from a landmine or Improvised Explosive Device away from the vehicle, while also presenting a sloped armor face. By presenting its armor at an angle, it increases the amount of material a ballistic projectile must pass through in order to penetrate the vehicle, and increases the chance of deflection. The anti-mine protection is Levels 2a / 2b NATO STANAG 4569. The infantrymen enter and leave the BASTION APC via a double door without a central pillar in the rear of the hull, which opens outwards. Three bullet-proof windows are mounted to each sides of the crew compartment, each with firing ports mounted in the lower part. The Bastion HD can carries ten soldiers in an internal volume of 8.5m³.
Propulsion
The Bastion APC uses a 4x4 chassis based on the rugged chassis of the light truck VLRA 2. The Bastion APC is powered by 5.0-litre Turbo Diesel Intercooler engine that can give 215hp at 2,300 rpm. The engine compartment is located at the front of the vehicle, leaving the remainder clear for the crew and passengers. The Bastion APC has cruise speed of 110 km/h and a maximum range of 1,000 km.
Accessories
The crew and passenger survivability features include blast-resistant seats. In option the Bastion APC can be equipped with 24 v pre-equipment radio communication kit, front electric winch and central tire inflation system. The Bastion APC is air transportable by C130, C160, and A400M transport aircraft and by CH47 helicopter.
