Iveco Defence Vehicles received a significant order from the German BwFuhrpark Service GmbH for a new fleet of military medium multipurpose 4x4 trucks for the German Army. The order encompasses the delivery of 280 Eurocargo trucks within 2018. The announcement, made on December 12, 2017, is a result of two years of intensive market evaluation and comprehensive practical trials with a demonstrator vehicle.

Oshkosh Defense, LLC, announced today that the U.S. Army has placed a $100.1 million order for the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program, to include 258 vehicles and associated installed and packaged kits. This is the seventh order for JLTVs since the contract was awarded in August 2015. Intended to replace the aging up-armored HMMWV fleet, the JLTV program fills a critical capability gap in the U.S. military’s current vehicle line-up.

L3 Technologies announced today that it has been awarded an approximately $150 million contract from an international country to provide night vision equipment with next-generation accuracy, including L3’s Binocular Night Vision Goggles, Holographic Weapon Sights, Light Weapon Thermal Sights and Advanced Target Pointer Illuminator Aiming Lasers.

BAE Systems has signed a contract with Czech manufacturer Laser Centrum CZ, Ltd. to produce mechanical components for the Swedish Army’s Mjölner mortar system based on CV90 tracked combat vehicle chassis. The agreement represents BAE Systems’ first agreement with a supplier in the Northern Liberec region of the Czech Republic.

On Wednesday, December 20, 2017, Norway’s defence ministry has announced the purchase of the K9 155 artillery self-propelled howitzers designed and manufactured by the South Korean Company Hanwha Land Systems. The contract that includes also the artillery howitzer K9, ammunition and transport vehicles will reach an ammount of $383 million.

China and Russia wrapped up the second "Aerospace Security 2017" Chinese-Russian Joint Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) defense computer command post exercise (CPX) on Dec. 16. The two militaries achieved new breakthroughs in anti-missile cooperation through the exercise, said the information bureau of China's Ministry of National Defense in a written statement on December 16, 2017.

Following an order for SPIKE Missiles signed in 2015 by the Romanian government from EuroSpike GmbH (a joint venture between Rafael, Diehl and Rheinmetall), the Romanian Army has recently completed testing and evaluation of ten SPIKE LR (Long Range) missiles. The missiles were fired as part of the Romanian army procurement and evaluation process at the Cincu National Training Center in Braşov, Romania.

On 15 December 2017 Rheinmetall transfers the first of two heavily protected Survivor R transport vehicles to the Saxony State Police. The second system will be delivered before Christmas. The Free State of Saxony ordered the two vehicles from Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) in February of this year. Forming part of an extensive anti-terror package, the vehicles will be used to equip special police units in Saxony.

Thales has been awarded a US$37 million contract from the U.S. Army to equip the new rapidly deployable security force assistance brigades (SFAB) with the AN/PRC-148C Improved Multiband Inter-Intra Team Radio (IMBITR), establishing it as the first dual-channel, certified networking radio to enhance communications at the tactical edge providing joint and coalition forces interoperability.

Bionic Power has received a contract valued at CDN$1.16 million, under the Government of Canada’s Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP), to supply low-volume production units of its PowerWalk® Kinetic Energy Harvester to the Director of Land Requirements (DLR) and Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) for field testing with the Canadian Armed Forces. The Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced the BCIP contracts on December 8 at the BC Tech Association Hub, in Vancouver.

Paramount Group, the African-based global defence and aerospace company, and its joint venture in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering (KPE) have delivered the latest batch of Arlan 4x4 armoured vehicles to the Kazakhstan Special Forces as the company’s local manufacturing facilities continues to accelerate production.
