If I am forced to go in to a home before I die, will my £22k life insurance policy be taken into account regarding repayment of care costs after my death? If this is the case, I might as well spend my savings on something like a world cruise before I get too bad in order to reduce my assets to around £14,000 plus funeral costs.
Pedal power: Cities that are geared up for cycling are attracting an ever increasing number of buyers
Cycling veterans Sir Chris Hoy and Chris Boardman are on a mission to make our cities bike-friendly. Hoy, 11 times a world champion and with six Olympic gold medals to his name, wants cycling to be at the centre of decisions about London's transport and neighbourhood improvements. 'You need to consider every junction and intersection; how, as a cyclist, you get from this side to that side safely, using other nations and cities as an example,' he says.

The FTSE 100 closed down 35.24 points at 7510.20 and the pound was at $1.31 against the dollar. MONEY NEWS & ADVICE
SIMON LAMBERT: We need an electric car that's a modern day GTI - and then watch the halo effect spread
Peugeot has unveiled a concept that it will probably never make, but like the Honda Urban EV revealed last year, I think it epitomises the key to electric cars winning the public's heart. We need small, relatively affordable, fun-to-drive electric cars that create the 21st century version of the classic GTI - to hit the sweet spot where a reasonable price meets desirability.
Revealed: The 10 most expensive streets in Britain where homes can cost an average of £36m - and the number of Millionaire's Rows is up 20%
There are now 17,289 streets in Britain where the average house price is at least £1m, and Reading has been named the town with Britain's most expensive streets - 242 of them where the average property is valued at more than one million pounds. It is the latest evidence of Britain's growing number of property millionaires despite concerns about the health of the housing market amid stamp duty woes and Brexit uncertainty. Top of the list is Kensington Palace Gardens, in London, which has been named as the most expensive street in Britain every year for the past decade.
Fleeced on their lease: Families are hit with soaring ground rent on their homes but face paying up to £50k to buy the freehold
Andrea and Roi Millward (pictured with their children Sienna and Isaac) are struggling to sell their their Merseyside home after being told the leasehold had knocked £42,000 off its value. Jo Darbyshire (top right) faces a bill for tens of thousands of pounds to buy her freehold and escape soaring ground rent. Meanwhile Kevin and Jeanette Sephton (bottom right) pay £200 a year in ground rent, but this will double to £400 in 2025. They also pay a £100 annual service charge for estate maintenance.
Tempted to take tax-free cash from your pension? I was... then I did my sums, says the PRUDENT INVESTOR
With my 60th birthday looming next March, I have pondered whether to take some tax-free cash when my pension kicks in. I am lucky enough to have a salary-based pension from my years as a full-time employee. But I also have private pension money in the stock market from my freelancing years. And I'm not alone.
The phone insurers who won't pay out if you have friends over - and that's just one of the sneaky excuses firms use to avoid settling claims
With handsets costing up to £1,450, one in ten now insures their device against theft, accidental damage and faults. But if you have cover, your claim could be refused for dozens of reasons. These could include not keeping your mobile within arm's reach at all times, allowing rain or a washing machine to damage it, or losing the device after drinking alcohol.
Land Rover, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo top the list of car dealers charging fees of up to £180 to check for a fault BEFORE making any repairs
Checks, which require the mechanic to plug a computer into the car to identify if there is a problem and what it could be linked to, take as little as 30 minutes - but some brands want up to £180 each time one is done. The average quote for a diagnostic check on a car at franchised dealers as part of an industry investigation was £102. The same check carried out at a Halford's Autocentre costs £49.99.

MARKET REPORT: Peppa Pig film release in China sows more seeds of success for owner Entertainment One,
Investors cannot get enough of Peppa Pig. In a steady-as-she-goes update to the stock market, Entertainment One, the media company that owns the pink cartoon porker, signalled the outlook was rosy. It is hoping for another boost from the release in China of a Peppa Pig film early next year, which will be just in time for the Chinese Year of the Pig. There was little movement in the share price before they suddenly sprang into life in afternoon trading, finally closing up 9.1 per cent, or 34.8p, at 417p. Drugs company Indivior has continued to tumble after sneaking out a business update saying its revenue could be hit by more than £100 million. The FTSE 250 pharmaceutical firm has been embroiled for months in a court battle with Indian competitor Dr Reddy's Laboratories, over a drug called Suboxone Film.

ASK TONY: Green Star energy keeps sending me electricity bills - but I'm not even a customer!
I applied to change my electricity provider to Green Star Energy in June last year. A couple of days later, well within the cooling-off period, I changed my mind and wrote to cancel my request, saying that I wished to stay with Southern Electric. Since then, I have received bills from Green Star and am at my wits' end as to how to make the firm understand.

Switzerland is famously tough for foreigners to buy property in, but one ski resort has stretched the rules: So why are Britons encouraged to invest in Andermatt?
Regulations including Lex Koller, a law which restricts foreign ownership of Swiss property, have discouraged international buyers from investing in Switzerland. But a deal between Egyptian businessman Samih Sawiris and the local Swiss government means foreign buyers have a window to invest penalty-free. Sarah Davidson found out how and why it is being promoted to British investors
Four star fund managers - including Mark Mobius and Terry Smith - are launching new investment trusts: Which should you buy?
We run the slide rule over the offerings from Terry Smith, Mark Mobius and others. Each trust is given a subjective rating - with five gold coins being the highest. Shares in the funds will trade on the London Stock Exchange and the aim will be to make money for long-term investors - and, of course, the managers themselves. But the investment strategies they are employing are as different as chalk and cheese.
Revealed: The pockets of Britain with the most newly-built homes since 2010 - does your area feature?
It's a common argument across the land - just how many new builds have shot up in your area in recent times, perhaps causing traffic havoc or putting a strain on local services. A new report by the Royal Mail has revealed the answer. Topping the list with the highest percentage of new homes going up is Tower Hamlets. The London borough came first in a list of 20 areas with the highest percentage of new builds, seeing a 14% increase over the last seven years.

My mother wants to leave me her house and disinherit my siblings after I was left out of father's will - what are her options?
My mother does not want my sister and brother to have her house as they inherited from my father, who she divorced, and who disinherited me. How does she do this so that if my sister and brother contested this they would not win? They each inherited £900k from my father's will so they would have money to fight me on this. Neither my brother nor sister now speak to my mother. Lawyer Gary Rycroft, pictured, replies.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR MONEY?
How much money do I need to save for my pension? A quick guide to retirement saving...
The amount you can save into a pension ultimately depends on what you can afford - but the longer you leave it the more you will need to save. We tend to put ambitious targets on our hoped-for income in retirement and then underestimate how much we will need to set aside to achieve that. So how much should you save?
What next for mortgage rates: Lenders cut despite the Bank rate rise
The Bank of England hiked the base rate to 0.75 per cent in August. However, several weeks later and mortgage rates for borrowers taking a new deal remain near record lows and house prices are rising in most parts of the country. That means this could still be a good time to get a mortgage.
Ten tips for buy-to-let: the essential advice for property investors
Buy-to-let is much tougher than it once was. A tax crackdown on buying properties and a tax raid on the rental income from owning them has seen to that. But for many Britons the idea of investing in property still appeals, as they trust bricks and mortar and may feel that they can add value to a property. Read our top ten tips
