GFM Films will launch sales at the American Film Market on two news titles - $30m budget animated film The Monkey Prince and $32m live action superhero film Knights Of The Zodiac: Saint Seiya.

Through its sister company GFM Animation, GFM is also investing in Monkey Prince, which is in production with Toei Animation Co, Sammy Corporation, Sola Entertainment, Marza Animation Planet and UK financier White & Co.

John A. Davis (Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius) is directing a script written by Oscar nominated writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss (Shrek 2).

The film features original characters designed by Naoto Ohshima (creator of Sonic The Hedgehog) and Japanese designer Takao Noguchi is on the team as character designer and associate director and former Disney Pixar animator Chuck Williams is also working on the project.

Delivery on the film is expected by Q3 2020. GFM Films is handling worldwide sales outside of Japan and Greater China.

On Knights Of The Zodiac, GFM is handling sales and also providing production funding, alongside Toei Animation Co, Sola Entertainment and A Really Good Film Company.

The film is in pre-production ahead of a shoot in summer 2019. Oscar-nominated shorts director Tomek Baginski is directing the feature, which is based on IP that has grossed $1.1bn across manga, TV and animated features. Will Geiger, Blazej Dzikowski and Eugene Son have written the screenplay. Tim Kwok and Miguel A. Faura are executive producers.
