The Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) has take the delivery of its first Ultra-Light Combat Vehicles (ULCV) also named Dagor. This vehicle is designed and manufactured by the American Company Polaris Government & Defense and was unveiled at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) annual meeting and exposition held in Washington DC in October 2014.

A new RAF radar facility reinforcing the UK’s ability to track unidentified military or civilian aircraft will be powered up ready to operate soon, the head of the RAF heard on January 26, 2018. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, visited the site of the new £10m Remote Radar Head facility, at Saxa Vord, Unst, Shetland, to inspect its progress.

According to a news from the Russian News agency TASS of January 25, 2018, Qatar, an Arab country located in the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula is interested to purchase the Russian-made S-400 air defense missile system. After Turkey, China, India and Saudi Arabia, Qatar is another foreign country interested to acquire this Russian anti-aircraft missile system.

Safran Electronics & Defense has won the contract for a major French defense procurement agency DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) Science & Technology project, Furious. Covering a period of five years, this project is designed to lay the groundwork for the integration of land robots in French armed forces, as part of the Scorpion modernization program. Safran will call on support from academia as well as the agility of small and medium-size enterprises (SME), to fulfill this contract, reflecting the DGA’s policy of encouraging innovative partnerships between prime contractors, research organizations, SMEs and startups.

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has awarded Lockheed Martin a $459 million contract modification for production and delivery of interceptors for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system. The modification brings the total contract value to $1.28 billion with funding provided in 2017 and 2018. The new interceptors support U.S. Army THAAD units and growing operational requirements.

Nammo is proud to announce that it has taken an ownership position in MAC LLC, a leader in the development and production of lightweight polymer cartridge cases for small and medium caliber ammunition.

"The trials are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2018 and last about a year," the analysts of the think-tank say, citing Russian media outlets. The program of the trials will include tests of the vehicle`s driving and firing performance, as well as its swimming capabilities and the firing performance of the Sprut-SDM1 in water. The tests will also include a paradroppimg from an Il-76 heavy airlifter to check the mobility, rapid deployment and transportability of the SPATG.

Elbit Systems LTD announced today that its subsidiary, Elbit Systems of Australia Pty Ltd., was awarded a $150 million contract by the Australian Department of Defence’s Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group to provide Through Life Support (TLS) services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for the Battle Management System Command and Control (BMS C2).

The Turkmenistan Special Operation Forces has awarded a multimillion-dollar contract to Polaris Government and Defense for military and commercial vehicles. The Polaris vehicles provide mobility options to their combat commanders to pose multiple dilemmas to the enemy.

A contract to deliver Russian-made S-400 (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) air defense missile systems to Turkey has been signed. Turkey has become the second NATO member-state to purchase Russian-made S-400 systems. "Two S-400 air defense missile systems have been deployed in Syria, providing twenty-four-hour air defense for the Humaymim and Tartus bases," Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said during his trip to Southeast Asian countries.

The Soratnik automated fighting system has been tested in an environment close to real combat at temperatures of more than 30°C, the press office of Russia’s Kalashnikov Corporation told TASS. The Kalashnikov Corporation that is a subsidiary of Russia’s Rostec state hi-tech corporation is the developer of the Soratnik system.

Vietnam has launched manufacturing of the Russian-originated OSV-96 anti-materiel rifle. The OSV-96 gas-operated self-loading anti-materiel rifle is being promoted on the global market by the Rosoboronexport company, a subsidiary of the Rostec state corporation. According to the official catalogue of Rosoboronexport, the OSV-96 is designed to engage manpower wearing body armor, light armored vehicles, radar, missile and artillery systems and other items of hardware.

Bittium has received the first orders from Mexican government authorities for mobile devices developed for a satellite communication system. The mobile devices have been developed in a product development project that started in the year 2015. The product development phase has been successfully concluded and the devices are now in volume production. The total value of the first orders is approximately 2 million euros and the devices will be delivered to the customers by the end of the first quarter of 2018. The mobile devices are manufactured in Finland.

On behalf of France, Italy and the United Kingdom governments, OCCAR (The Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) has notified a New In Service Support (N-ISS) contract with the Franco-Italian consortium, Eurosam, which is co-owned by MBDA and Thales. It replaces the first ISS contract that has been in place since July 2012. This contract has been a premiere in a major multinational armament program: OCCAR and Eurosam have collaborated to create a support community that is operationally compliant with the requirements of the three nations and five end users (armies, navies, air force).

PacStar, a leading developer and supplier of advanced communications solutions for commercial, industrial and defense markets, today announced its 400-Series small form factor (SFF) tactical and deployable communications modules will move to full rate production for the U.S. Army Transportable Tactical Command Communications (T2C2) program. PacStar modules – which provide baseband networking for the T2C2 program’s Lite and Heavy systems – satisfactorily completed operational testing with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has requested a possible purchase for continued participation, technical assistance, and support in the Patriot Legacy Field Surveillance Program (FSP); the Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) FSP; and the Patriot Engineering Services Program (ESP). Also included are Patriot and HAWK Missile System spare parts and repair and return management services and component repairs, and other related elements of logistics and program support. The total estimated program cost is $500 million.

Aero-T, a subsidiary of RT LTA, the Israeli based aerostat company which develop and manufacture the SkyStar™ family of tactical Aerostats, announces it has completed the development and production of a first SkyGuard1 aerostat system. All the system components were successfully tested as part of final examinations of the aerostat before deployment in the air.

Orbital ATK, a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, recently participated in the Maneuver Fires Integrated Experiment (MFIX) at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. The event allowed soldiers to use counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) technologies during a series of demonstrations to provide feedback on how these systems performed and could potentially help fill capability gaps for short range air defense.

Airbus has been awarded the Symphonie contract by the French joint services directorate for defence infrastructure networks and information systems (DIRISI) for a period of seven years. It is part of the Descartes programme designed to modernise the telecommunication networks of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.

On Tuesday January 16th, Cubic Corporation announced that its Cubic Mission Solutions (CMS) business division's GATR satellite antenna systems will proceed to Full Rate Production (FRP) for the U.S. Army's Transportable Tactical Command Communications (T2C2) program. T2C2 was granted approval for FRP as a result of the T2C2 Full Rate Production Milestone review. The FRP decision will enable the Army's program office to procure and field Cubic's GATR satellite antenna systems to Army units.

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) and Patria have entered into an agreement to develop opportunities for cooperation on Missile Systems. The agreement comprises the establishment of a Missile Competence Center in Finland, Open Tactical Framework (OTF) core technologies and system architecture software for missile programs in Finland and international opportunities linked to these capabilities.
