    Today is Day 5 of for the 2019 municipal primary elections. Below is turnout through 4 days by city. Absentee ballots received to date are included. The top table is raw turnout, and the bottom table is turnout as a percentage of active registered voters.

    5️⃣ Three states are holding elections for governor this year. Louisiana Gov. Edwards (D) and Kentucky Gov. Bevin (R) are running for re-election. Mississippi Gov. Bryant (R) is not running for re-election due to term limits.

    4️⃣ Most states have an official governors' mansion. The six states that do not are Arizona, California, Idaho, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Pennsylvania is the only state to also have a mansion for the lieutenant governor.

    3️⃣ Forty-four states give the governor line-item veto authority, allowing them to veto a specific part of a bill while signing the rest into law. Indiana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Vermont do not.

    2️⃣ Vermont and New Hampshire have 2-year gubernatorial terms. The other 48 states use 4-year terms. 35 states limit the governor to two terms in office. Virginia prohibits governors from being elected to two consecutive terms. The remaining 14 states have no term limits.

    1️⃣ Republicans have held a majority of the nation's gubernatorial offices since the 2010 elections. There are currently 27 Republican governors and 23 Democratic governors. In the 2018 elections, Democrats gained seven governorships while Republicans gained one governorship.
