Kolkata: After running 300 services on Friday, Metro Railway now plans to run more trains in stretches where there is demand. After a survey, Metro realised there's less demand in the Mahanyak Uttam Kumar (MUK)-Kavi Subhash (KS) stretch than in the one between MUK and Dum Dum.

After the third platform and Y-siding became operational at MUK, 300 services were possible. It also went on a rationalisation drive and reduced the number of services in the MUK-KS stretch. After introduction of 300 services by minister Rajen Gohain on Friday, Metro general manager M C Chauhan said more services would be provided wherever needed. "We will raise number of services in MUK-KS stretch. Number of services in MUK-Dum Dum stretch may also increase," Metro spokesperson Indrani Banerjee said.
