Twitter users have shared the biggest lies they have ever told, in a viral thread which even saw Monica Lewinsky confess her own untruth.

Nicole Cliffe, a writer from Utah, took to her social media account this week to reveal she had pretended she was on the brink of being evicted in order to move in with her boyfriend. 

'When I moved in with Steve three months into our relationship it’s because I lied and said I was getting evicted and needed a place to live when in fact I just wanted to move in. Okay please tell me about your over-the-top lies for personal gain', she tweeted.

Her candid confession racked up an impressive 16,000 likes, as well as a slew of retweets and replies, with dozens of people sharing their own white lies in the hilarious thread.

Even Monica Lewinsky, 45, who rose to fame after controversially admitting to having an 'inappropriate relationship with former US president Bill Clinton while she worked at the White House from 1995 to 1996, got in on the action.

Replying to the viral thread, she confessed: 'In kindergarten, I told my friends that Olivia Newton-John was coming for dinner. My mom was very surprised when my friends' moms called to ask if they could come, too.'
