Brazil is pushing ahead its armored personnel carrier production program both to modernize its army and to create a new defense export market. Argentina is the first foreign customer to indicate interest in acquiring at least 14 of the six-wheel Guarani APC that Brazil is developing in a joint venture with Italy's Iveco S.p.A., which has headquarters in Turin.

Rheinmetall contract for production of TAPV Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle for Canadian army
 

Rheinmetall AG (XETRA: RHM) and Textron Systems Canada Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, today October 31, 2012, announced that they have signed a €160 million ($205 million CAD) contract for work on the Canadian Forces Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) project, performed by Rheinmetall Canada Inc., Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.

Elbit Systems has annonced October 24, 2012, that Ares Aeroespacial e Defensa Ltda. ("Ares"), its Brazilian subsidiary, was awarded an initial production order valued at approximately $25 million to supply 12.7/7.62mm Remote Controlled Weapon Stations (RCWS) to the Brazilian Army. The RCWS, named REMAX, a unique development of Ares, will be supplied within two years.
