What is Mesothelioma?

Malignant mesothelioma is a rare but serious cancer of the lining of the lungs or abdomen. It is most commonly caused by exposure to asbestos. Asbestos exposure occurred during military service in over 30% of all mesothelioma cases. Veterans from all branches of service are at risk. Members of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps hold the highest risk for developing mesothelioma.
