Tributes for Australian actress Carmen Duncan after death from cancer
Beloved Australian actress Carmen Duncan, a star of the small and big screen, has been remembered by friends and family after her death at the age of 76.
Actress Carmen Duncan died on Sunday afternoon after a battle with cancer.
A spokesperson for St Vincent's Hospital confirmed to SBS the death of the accomplished actress.
The 76-year-old had been receiving care at St Vincent's Sacred Heart Health Service in Sydney.
Her roles encompassed Australian TV shows to films over a 60-plus year career from the 1960s, including Cop Shop, All Saints and Another World.
Friend Ian Phipps said he is saddened by her death.
"Vale to my darling friend Carmen Duncan, a wonderful and beautiful human being inside and out. Much love to Amelia, Duncan and family," Mr Phipps posted on Twitter.
Tributes soon followed by fans and members of the entertainment industry.
"RIP" Graham posted, while Nicky Williamson simply posted an emoticon of a crying cat face.
Those within and reporting on the entertainment industry posted tributes, describing the actress as "all class" and their reactions as "very sad".
Carmen Duncan's list of TV credits include Number 96, Cop Shop, Skyways, A Country Practice, The Flying Doctors, All Saints, Water Rats, Homicide, Hunter, You Can’t See ‘Round Corners, Riptide, Division 4, Matlock Police, Always Greener and Winners and Losers.
Her film credits included Harlequin, Turkey Shoot, Touch and Go, Liquid Bridge and Hotel Mumbai.
Later her career took her to America where she starred in Another World, As the World Turns and Ash vs Evil Dead.
Post her TV and film achievements she became an advocate for women's health, serving as a fundraising manager for gynaecological cancer treatment with GO Fund, and as an ambassador for breast cancer at the Royal Hospital for Women.
The 76-year-old is survived by her children Amelia and Duncan.
