Annual Educational Conference

The 2020 Annual Educational Conference attracted more than 4,300 attendees, breaking all previous attendance records and providing broad networking opportunities for a diversity of roles in graduate medical education (GME). The sessions covered a wide range of topics: specialty updates, well-being, diversity and inclusion, leadership, and more. The conference also included a number of new activities for attendees, including:

  • Clean the World: The ACGME partnered with Clean the World to give back to homeless communities in San Diego. Clean the World aims to help prevent the millions of deaths due to hygiene-related illnesses by collecting and recycling soap and bottled amenities discarded by the hospitality industry. Attendees put together over 600 hygiene kits to be delivered to a local family shelter, where the kits were donated.
  • Book Signings: Attendees lined up to connect with plenary speakers after their sessions!
  • Mentor/Mentee Program: The Mentor/Mentee Program created a new way to connect during the conference. Attendees were excited to engage and learn from their peers! Designated networking spots throughout the conference space allowed mentors and mentees to meet and discuss their current role, their journey, and more!

The Marvin R. Dunn Welcoming Poster Reception featured over 90 posters from the GME community, with an expansive array of topics. Read the accepted abstracts here.

During and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the well-being and safety of the graduate medical education community and the public is the ACGME’s top priority. Right now, the ACGME is moving ahead with the 2021 Annual Educational Conference in Nashville as planned. Recognizing that the pandemic may continue to impact in-person events, the ACGME will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. Updated information, including any changes to format or timing, will be posted on the ACGME website, in the weekly e-Communication, and on Twitter and LinkedIn.
