We have created a can-do guide -THE 3-6-5 EveryDay EATING METHOD - to help make eating healthfully something that everyone can accomplish.
If you’re on this site, chances are you’re probably already interested in eating mindfully. But actually eating a healthier diet is easier said than done. How do you get from where you are to where you want to be in terms of the foods you eat? How do you put good intentions into practice? Behavior change experts have 3 suggestions: find a starting point with some sort of guide or roadmap; break the goal into smaller steps with reminders or prompts; gets support from others is key.
Consider this 3-6-5 EveryDay Eating Method as your roadmap, with the following 3 reminders as guideposts:
EATING WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS OR OTHERS
The rhythm of our days is built around 3 meals. However with today’s hectic schedules, it’s easy for this most basic habit to be sidetracked. Who hasn’t grabbed food on the go or snacked all through the day or even skipped meals all together? Reminding each other to eat 3 meals a day will go a long way to improving health.
6 WHOLE FOODS
FRUITS, VEGETABLE, WHOLE GRAINS, SEEDS, NUTS AND BEANS TO BE EATEN DAILY
Six is the number of plant based food groups to choose from when aiming for a healthful diet. Simply put - try eating more of these 6 whole foods: fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds and whole grains. Eating these foods daily helps to provide most of the essential nutrients your body needs including vitamins, minerals, protein, fats, carbs and fiber. Our community will provide tips on shopping, menu planning, preparing and enjoying food from these 6 groups.
