EkoMałopolska project
It aims to increase the activity of the Małopolska Region in the field of environmental protection and development. His most important tasks include: updating the air protection program, strengthening the role of ecological transport sources, implementation of pro-environmental measures at the stage of public procurement in the Marshal's Office of the Małopolska Region. However, ecoMałopolska is not only regulations and legal solutions, but above all an invitation for the inhabitants of the region to actively engage in caring for the region. Therefore, environmental consulting was introduced for residents and companies in the form of Eco-managers. What's more, residents were given the opportunity to report cases of non-compliance with environmental laws using the eco-intervention form. More green places will be made available in the Małopolska Region, where you will be able to spend time in contact with nature, the so-called ekoParks.
Air protection in the Małopolska Region
In the Małopolska Region, the Air Protection Program for the Małopolska Region was approved, aiming to achieve permissible levels of air pollutants in the whole Małopolska Region by 2023 with lower levels of: PM10, PM2.5, benzo (a) pyrene, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide.
The main directions of air protection activities are the following, among others:
- introduction of restrictions on the use of solid fuels in the Kraków area,
- implementation of local low emission reduction programs - elimination of low-emission equipment for solid fuels,
- expansion and modernization of heating networks and gas networks, providing new users,
- thermo-modernization of buildings and the support of energy efficient buildings in housing and public buildings,
- reduction of emissions from transport,
- limiting industrial emissions,
- environmental education of the inhabitants.
Integrated project LIFE
The implementation of the Air Protection Program for the Małopolska Region has been strengthened thanks to the integrated project, LIFE "Implementation of the Air Protection Program for the Małopolska Region - Małopolska in a healthy atmosphere".
Main activities of the project:
- the network of Eco-advisers in Małopolska municipalities, they will support the implementation of the Air Protection Program, acquire external funds for actions that reduce emissions and mobilize residents to participate in these actions,
- advising the inhabitants of the Małopolska Region on the most effective ways of reducing emissions and sources of financing, including preventing energy poverty through energy saving measures,
- Center of Competence at the regional level, including training and knowledge base for all local governments, to assist municipalities in carrying out their activities,
- strengthening counselling and administrative services for the inhabitants of Kraków in the scope of the liquidation of old furnaces and solid fuel boilers, including the launch of information points in which assistance will be provided to those interested in applying for co-financing energy saving projects,
- a tool for high resolution modelling of distribution of pollutants in Kraków and an analysis of model variants of the implementation of measures to reduce pollutant emissions into the air, as exemplified by Kraków - to be used by other municipalities,
- interregional emission sources for the Małopolska Region, the Czech Republic and Slovakia together with air quality modelling.
