SRC, Inc.’s AN/TPQ-49 Radar system supported the Canadian Armed Forces, providing air surveillance for the 2018 G7 Summit in Charlevoix, Quebec. The radar system added to mission success by providing persistent air surveillance using SRC’s LSTAR software, a program that specifically tunes the radar for optimal detection of airborne targets, both large and small.
The Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Javelin Joint Venture was awarded a production contract for 2,100 Javelin FGM-148F, marking the initial full-rate production agreement to replace the Javelin-E, Lockheed said on January 30. The first F-Model round deliveries are planned for early 2020.

Iran's newly developed drone named Kaman 12 was unveiled at Eqtedar 40 defense exhibition on 30 January. The Kaman 12 UAV can fly up to 10 hours at a maximum spedd of 200 km/h speed. It has an operational radius of 1,000 km. Its payload tops at 100 kg.

The U.S. Marine Corps wants to spend nearly a third of its Fiscal Year 2020 money on modernizing its equipment and nearly another third on rebuilding readiness, a top officer said, Megan Eckstein reports on USNI News. The Philippine Department of National Defense (DND) is planning to acquire a SPYDER air defense system. The SPYDER is built by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems of Israel. The DND says it will purchase the SPYDER, but still needs to determine the quality. The Philippine government is involved a significant military modernization program. The DND has already purchased SPIKE-ER missiles from Israel for the Philippine Navy.
After the success of the first range experiment of the Directed Energy Experimentation Campaign at White Sands Missile Range, in October 2018, the 704th Test Group’s Directed Energy Combined Test Force is now planning future experiments in support of the campaign. The Air Force Strategic Development Planning and Experimentation office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, tasked the 704th TG Directed Energy Combined Task Force at Kirtland Air Force Base to execute the DE Experimentation Campaign.
