Nexter is a company within the French-German KNDS Group (KMW+NEXTER Defense Systems), the European leader in land defense.

Nexter mission is to meet the needs of armies all around the world, through the design, development and production of high-end protection and defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles and ammunition for land forces.

Since its creation, the group supplies customers and commercial partners and provides artillery systems and armoured vehicles in Asia, South America, Africa and in the Middle-East.

Nexter products proved their reliability and capabilities by being deployed in overseas operations and in wide variety of terrains with the French Army (CAESAR®, ARAVIS®, VBCI in Afghanistan, Mali, Lebanon, Central Africa…).

In 2015, Nexter’s revenue was €1.1 billion, of which 14% was reinvested in Research & Development (2,236 live patents in Nexter’s portfolio). The Group has 3,320 employees on 10 sites in France, 2 sites in Italy (Simmel Difesa) and 1 site in Belgium (Mecar).

The Group continues to pursue its policy of international expansion, with 55% of orders coming from export markets in 2015. In France, Nexter is fully engaged in meeting the aims of the SCORPION Program, through the renovation of the Leclerc tank and the development, as part of a consortium with Renault Trucks Defense and Thales, of the future GRIFFON and JAGUAR vehicles.

As a land defense systems integrator and as the heir to more than 250 years of expertise, Nexter is the manufacturer of a long line of vehicles including the LECLERC battle tank, the VBCI armored infantry fighting vehicle, the multi-role TITUS® 6x6 vehicle and the CAESAR® self-propelled howitzer. In addition, Nexter is an expert in land turrets (T40 and ARX® families).

Nexter offers in a full range of key equipment and solutions, including naval (NARWHAL®, 15A/15B naval mounts) and aeronautic weapons systems(THL30/THL20 turrets, pod and cannons). Nexter is the supplier of the RAFALE aircraft cannon and of the TIGER helicopter turret, used in operation by the French army.

Digital solutions are also an important part of Nexter know-how with C2 systems (FINDERS), vetronics (CREWSHARE) and embedded simulation (SEMBA).

Nexter Ammunition Business Unit, incorporating Mecar in Belgium, Simmel Difesa in Italy, and Nexter Munitions in France, is the 3rd largest European group in its sector. It develops and produces a large range of ammunition from 20mm to 155mm, dedicated to land (artillery, infantry, armored vehicles and tanks) naval and air-land defense systems.

Lastly, Nexter draws on a number of equipment manufacturing subsidiaries such as Nexter Robotics (robot NERVA® and its playloads), Nexter Mechanics (special mechanics systems), Nexter Electronics (electronics for extreme and combat conditions), Optsys (optomechanical and optoelectronic systems for military use), NBC-Sys (individual and collective protection systems against nuclear, biological and chemical attacks) and Euro-Shelter (tactical shelters, mobile logistics systems, mobile medical systems). Their engineering expertise allows them to supply combat-proven sub-systems and technologies to other parts of the Nexter group and to external customers in areas such as robotics, electronics, optics, mechanics, shelters and CBRN protection.

The Caesar is a wheeled self-propelled howiter designed and manufactured by the French Defence Company Nexter Systems. The last version of the Caesar uses the chassis of a 6x6 truck Sherpa 5 from Renault Trucks Defense. This version was presented for the first time during the International Defense Exhibition Eurosatory in 2006.
