Trump unveils first section of new 'anti-climb' border wall and says 'our country is full'

'We’ve already built a lot of it,' the president told reporters at the site. The administration has not, however, erected walls along the border in places where no barriers existed on his Inauguration Day. Trump said the imposing structure, made of reinforced steel slats spaced apart so U.S. Border Patrol agents can see the other side, is 'anti-climb' and can be made quickly. He declared on Friday that at least 400 miles of the border barrier would be erected over the next two years, even as he tried to blame Democrats for a lack of progress on the ambitious project. The president has been e ager to continue making border security a central campaign issue. He consulted with immigration agents in the California border city of Calexico on Friday while insisting that the nation's immigration system was overburdened and declaring that 'our country is full.' He has also complained bitterly about media coverage of his ambitious border agenda that whipped rally crowds into frenzied mobs during the 2016 campaign. On Friday he invited border agents to join him with reporters so they could meet the 'fake news.' Protesters had launched a 'baby Trump' balloon near the border in the hours before Trump arrived and tried to keep it aloft near where he spoke to law enforcement officials.
